The dataset includes data collected through a survey aimed to study how travel-related decisions of residents of the Puget Sound Region in Washington State have changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the survey, we asked each respondent about their travel behavior before and during the pandemic, what they expect their future (after the pandemic) travel choices would look like, and several socio-economic and psychometric questions. We used Google Forms as our data collection platform. A PDF of the questionnaire and meta data which explains each column are included with the data file. The survey was advertised through the Facebook page of the UW Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, and was live for 14 days (June 26-July 9, 2020). Ads were run on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and other social media platforms owned by Facebook, and were set to be shown only to the residents of the Puget Sound region in Washington State (King, Snohomish, Kitsap and Pierce counties). As an incentive to participate, respondents were entered in a drawing for their choice of an Apple iPad or a Microsoft Surface tablet (retail price of about $400). The ads reached 49,146 people, of which 2,018 people (4.10%) clicked on the ad and opened the survey. Of the 2,018 people who clicked on the survey link, 1389 individuals completed the survey (68.83%). After data cleaning, we ended up with 1310 valid responses.

2017 Puget Sound Regional Travel Study The 2017 Puget Sound Regional Travel Study collected household- and person-level activity and travel pattern information from residents throughout the Puget Sound Regional Council's four-county region in Washington State. It followed the 2014-2015 Puget Sound Regional Travel Study, starting a planned six-year data collection that includes 2019 and 2021. The multiyear program's goal is to maintain an updated source of household travel behavior data that: - Supports modeling and planning needs - Facilitates trend analysis over time - Allows for regular study design updates to integrate evolving data collection methods and emerging travel behaviors and transportation issues. ## Data Collection Agency The Puget Sound Regional Council conducted the study. ## Methodology The 2017 study featured both the design and administration of a one-day household travel diary (approximately 80% of households before data cleaning) and a seven-day smartphone global positioning system (GPS) diary (approximately 20% of households before data cleaning). It combined data collection methods, including smartphone, online, and telephone. The survey design included several stages to recruit and collect data about households, their members, and their travel behaviors during the assigned travel period. ## Survey Records Survey records include a total of 6,254 participants. ## More Information For more information, see the survey documentation. ## Transportation Data The data set contains a demographic and socioeconomic composition of 6,254 people from 3,285 households in the Puget Sound regional area, as well as detailed information on the travel behavior of each household for a designated 24-hour period. The Puget Sound Transportation Panel was initiated in the fall of 1989. The Seattle Household Travel Survey Wave 1, conducted in 1989, was the first wave in a ten-part longitudinal panel survey initiated by the Puget Sound Regional Council to assess the travel patterns of households in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. The panel intended to serve three basic objectives: 1) to be a metropolitan “current population survey” to track changes in employment, work characteristics, household composition, and vehicle availability; 2) to monitor changes in travel behavior and responses to changes in the transportation environment; and 3) to examine changes in attitudes and values as they affect mode choice and travel behavior. This collection contains the first set of panel data for households in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. A total of 1,687 households successfully completed a phone survey and returned completed travel diaries for household members age 15 and older. Respondents were instructed to record their mode of transportation, trip purpose, number of vehicle passengers, departure and arrival times, ride fare, and parking costs in a two-day trip diary. Demographic information for this study includes age, gender, education, employment status, and household income.

ED Tourism LTAC Monthly Revenue by Jurisdiction for Pierce County

The survey was conducted under the auspices of the Thurston Regional Planning Council, and it was funded through a state grant awarded to Intercity Transit of Olympia, Washington. Data collection was from September 1998 through March 1999. The purpose of the study was to provide data for the continuing development and refinement of the Regional Travel Demand Forecasting Model, as well as to provide a better understanding of travel behavior in the southern Puget Sound region of Washington. The resultant data set will be used to fulfill the model's functions of estimating trip generation and distribution, mode choice, and assignments. Participating households were assigned specific “travel days” to record their travel over a 48-hour period. A total of 2,465 households were recruited to participate in the study. Of these, 1,537 households completed travel diaries, and the information was retrieved from 3,653 household members regardless of age. Households member made 25,278 total trips during their 48-hour diary period.
