Zip Codes (5-digit). The dataset polygons represent location and attributes of zip codes, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Zip Codes were identified from public records (US Postal Service) and created selecting arcs from the street centerlines and vector property map.

This dataset is part of the Geographical repository maintained by Opendatasoft. This dataset contains data for zip codes 5 digits in United States of America.ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are approximate area representations of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ZIP Code service areas that the Census Bureau creates to present statistical data for each decennial census. The Census Bureau delineates ZCTA boundaries for the United States, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands once each decade following the decennial census. Data users should not use ZCTAs to identify the official USPS ZIP Code for mail delivery. The USPS makes periodic changes to ZIP Codes to support more efficient mail delivery.Processors and tools are using this data.EnhancementsAdd ISO 3166-3 codes.Simplify geometries to provide better performance across the services.Add administrative hierarchy.

Statewide, DCYF estimates that families of about 305,000 children age B-5 not yet in school need child care. Only about 34% of those children are enrolled in licensed child care or preschool.
The percent of need met for child care and preschool for young children varies widely across the state.
The maps below illustrate the estimated percent of child care need for these families currently met by licensed child care and preschool. To capture the variability of met need across the state, maps are available by County, Legislative District, and Zip Code

This layer originated from ZCTAs and has been modified in places by Grant County GIS staff based on input from local US Postal Service staff and landowners.ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs™) are a statistical geographic entity produced by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating summary statistics from the 2010 Census, first developed for Census 2000. This entity was developed to overcome the difficulties in precisely defining the land area covered by each ZIP Code™, which is necessary in order to accurately tabulate census data for that area.ZCTAs are generalized area representations of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ZIP Code service areas. They represent the most frequently occurring five-digit ZIP Code found in a given area. Simply put, each ZCTA is built by aggregating 2010 Census blocks, whose addresses use a given ZIP Code. Each resulting ZCTA is then assigned the most frequently occurring ZIP Code as its ZCTA code. For more information, please refer to the ZCTA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
Thurston County, WA, US Post Office Box assigned zip codes. The purpose of this data is as a general reference only and actual mailing zip codes should be obtained from the US Postal Service. This layer was originally created using US Post Office Data. These points are associated with the US Post Office Box locations that house a unique Zip Code. This layer should be used in conjunction with the Zip Codes layer which is used to show zip code area boundaries associated with addressing and Thurston County Assessor’s Parcels. For example in smaller jurisdictions, like Bucoda, that rely on a post office box rather than rural delivery, the zip code point will reflect the unique zip code while the surrounding area will reflect the greater rural zip code boundaries and not the localized PO Box zip code.
