Objective: To update knowledge and methods to access and view the journals included in Qualis of CAPES Medicine III, and how to measure the impact factor. Method: Document review on the attempt to verify the way Qualis uses for ranking journals cited by the post-graduate programs of Medicine III in their evaluation periods, and the impact factors obtained by journals indexing base. Results: The classification is annual and are ranking in strata ranging from A1, the highest, and A2; B1; B2; B3; B4; B5; C. The latter has zero evaluation weight. These strata take as reference the impact factor of the journals listed by the programs. The same journal can be classified into different Qualis in other areas, and this is no inconsistency, but expressed the assigned value, in each area, at that particular journal. The Impact Factor is measured using the Journal of Citation Report in Web of Knowledge website. Conclusion: Using the criteria established by WebQualis for stratification of journals there is a quality guidance of what is produced by the program and, based on it, can be made scientific comparison of program performance. Consulting the JCR is recommended because it defines exactly what is the journal's impact factor; Qualis stratifies numerical intervals and not individual journal specificity.

BackgroundObservational studies are the most frequently published studies in literature. When randomized controlled trials cannot be conducted because of ethical or practical considerations, an observational study design is the first choice. The STROBE Statement (STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology) was developed to provide guidance on how to adequately report observational studies.ObjectivesThe objectives were 1) to evaluate the quality of reporting of observational studies of otorhinolaryngologic literature using the STROBE Statement checklist, 2) to compare the quality of reporting of observational studies in the top 5 Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) journals versus the top 5 general medical journals and 3) to formulate recommendations to improve adequate reporting of observational research in otorhinolaryngologic literature.MethodsThe top 5 general medical journals and top 5 otorhinolaryngologic journals were selected based on their ISI Web of Knowledge impact factors. On August 3rd, 2015, we performed a PubMed search using different filters to retrieve observational articles from these journals. Studies were selected from 2010 to 2014 for the general medical journals and from 2015 for the ENT journals. We assessed all STROBE items to examine how many items were reported adequately for each journal type.ResultsThe articles in the top 5 general medical journals (n = 11) reported a mean of 69.2% (95% confidence interval (CI): 65.8%–72.7%; median 70.6%), whereas the top 5 ENT journals (n = 29) reported a mean of 51.4% (95% CI: 47.7%–55.0%; median 50.0%). The two journal types reported STROBE items significantly different (p < .001).ConclusionQuality of reporting of observational studies in otorhinolaryngologic articles can considerably enhance. The quality of reporting was better in general medical journals compared to ENT journals. To improve the quality of reporting of observational studies, we recommend authors and editors to endorse and actively implement the STROBE Statement.

Methodological developments in data visualization techniques have improved the ability to convey meaning and reduce erroneous conclusions. The purpose of this project is to examine: (1) How are empirical results presented visually in social work research?; (2) To what extent do top social work journals vary in the publication of data visualization techniques?; (3) What is the predominant type of analysis presented in tables and graphs?; (4) How can current data visualization methods be improved to increase understanding of social work research? Method: A database was built from a systematic literature review of the four most recent issues of Social Work Research and 6 other highly ranked journals in social work based on the 2009 5-year impact factor (Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Knowledge). Overall, 294 articles were reviewed. Articles without any form of data visualization were not included in the final database. The number of articles reviewed by journal includes : Child Abuse & Neglect (38), Child Maltreatment (30), American Journal of Community Psychology (31), Family Relations (36), Social Work (29), Children and Youth Services Review (112), and Social Work Research (18). Articles with any type of data visualization (table, graph, other) were included in the database and coded sequentially by two reviewers based on the type of visualization method and type of analyses presented (descriptive, bivariate, measurement, estimate, predicted value, other). Additional revi ew was required from the entire research team for 68 articles. Codes were discussed until 100% agreement was reached. The final database includes 824 data visualization entries.

TwitterSmallholder farmers in developing countries often lack appropriate cereal storage facilities which can contribute to food insecurity and low cereal commercialization, particularly when they can only rely on one cropping season with no irrigation. Lack of quality storage can lead to post-harvest losses (Abass et al, 2014; Sheahan and Barrett, 2017) and often compels smallholder farmers to sell their crops soon after harvest, when crop prices are at their seasonal lowest, only for them to buy grain for consumption during the lean season, when prices are high (Kadjo et al, 2018; Aggarwal et al, 2018; Stephens and Barrett, 2011). In many instances, such farmers need food assistance to survive the lean season and in other cases, they may have to borrow money at usurious rates in order to purchase food. This was the case in Guéra Region of Chad, a semi-arid area that frequently experiences droughts and dry spells in ways that severely reduce crop production and rural households’ food security.
To address these issues, the IFAD-funded Programme d'Appui au Développement Rural dans le Guéra (PADER-G) project was implemented with the main objective of supporting poor rural households and smallholder farmers in Guéra, Chad to improve their food security and livelihoods. One specific aim of PADER-G, designed to manage risks of food shortage, was to improve cereal storage among smallholder farmers through the construction of community cereal banks (banque de céréales). This main element of the project was complemented with the establishment of community committees (Comité de gestion des banques de soudure – COGES) which were trained on effective management of the cereal banks.
This data refer to the ex-post impact assessment of the PADER-G community cereal banks intervention. The impact assessment employed various methods, which proved robust across a number of estimated impacts. The inverse-probability-weighted matching techniques on household data collected from villages that benefited from the community cereal banks (the treatment) and villages that did not benefit from the PADER-G cereal banks (the control) were used for the main report, however additional results are available in the appendix. The inverse-probability-weighted regression-adjustment (IPWRA) and other variants of matching techniques were used to assess the impact of PADER-G cereal bank interventions on several outcome and impact indicators, including household income, assets, food security, dietary diversity and resilience indicators. Other similar estimators used to check for consistency of results include the augmented inverse-probability-weighting (AIPW) and entropy balancing methods.
The PADER-G cereal banks intervention was selected as an ex-post impact assessments to be part of the IFAD10 Impact Assessment Agenda (IFAD10 IAA) that consists of a broader set of impact assessments across the world. The aim of IFAD10 IAA is to generate evidence and provide lessons for better rural poverty reduction programmes and to measure the impact of IFAD-supported programmes on enhancing rural people's economic mobility, increased agricultural productive capacity, improved market participation and increased resilience. In undertaking this impact assessment, IFAD endeavours to fill key knowledge gaps on the impacts of community cereal banks in rural areas of developing countries, an intervention that has received less attention from impact evaluators.

TwitterIndustrial research: Task No. 1 - Development of algorithms for extracting objects from data
The task includes industrial works consisting in the development of algorithms for extracting objects from data. The basic assumption of the semantic web is to operate on objects that have specific attributes and relations between them. Assuming that the input data to the system usually have a weak structure (textual or structured documents with general attributes, e.g. title, creator, etc.), it is necessary to develop methods for extracting objects of basic types representing typical concepts from the real world, such as people, institutions, places, dates etc. Tasks of this type are performed by algorithms from the group of natural language processing and entity extraction. The main technological issue of this stage was to develop an algorithm that would extract entities from documents with a weak structure - in the extreme case, text documents - as efficiently as possible. For this purpose, it was necessary to process documents included in the shared internal representation and extract entities in a generalized way, regardless of the source form of the document.
Detailed tasks (milestones):
Development of an algorithm for pre-processing data and internal representation of a generalized document. As part of the task, methods of pre-processing documents from various sources and in various formats will be selected to a common form on which further algorithms will operate. As input - text documents (pdf, word etc), scans of printed documents (we do not include handwriting), web documents (HTML pages), other databases (relational tables), csv/xls files, XML files
Development of an algorithm for extracting simple attributes from documents - Extraction of simple scalar attributes from processed documents, such as dates and numbers, taking into account the metadata existing in source systems and document templates for groups of documents with a similar structure.
Development of an entity extraction algorithm from documents for basic classes of objects - entity extraction in unstructured text documents based on NLP techniques based on the developed language corpus for Polish and English with the possibility of development for other languages, taking into account the basic types of real-world objects (places, people , institutions, events, etc.)
Industrial research: Task No. 2 - Development of algorithms for automatic ontology creation
As part of task 2, it is planned to develop algorithms for automatic ontology creation. Reducing the impact of the human factor on data organization processes requires the development of algorithms that will significantly automate the process of classifying and organizing data imported to the system. It requires the use of advanced knowledge modeling techniques such as ontology extraction and thematic modeling. These algorithms are usually based on text statistics and the quality of their operation largely depends on the quality of the input data. This creates the risk that models created by algorithms may differ from expert models used by field experts. It is therefore necessary to take this risk into account in the architecture of the solution.

Development of an algorithm for organizing objects in dictionaries and deduplication of entities in dictionaries - The purpose of the task is to develop an algorithm that organizes objects identified in previously developed algorithms in such a way as to prevent duplication of objects representing the same concepts and to enable the presentation of appropriate relationships between nodes of the semantic network.
Development of an extraction algorithm for a domain ontological model - Requires the use of sophisticated methods of analyzing the accumulated corpus of documents in terms of identifying concepts and objects specific to the domain. The task will be carried out by a research unit experienced in the field of creating ontological models.
Development of a semantic tagging algorithm - Requires the use of topic modeling methods. The task will be carried out by a research unit experienced in the field of creating ontological models.
