This is a dataset of trackers as captured by PrivacyScore (privacyscore.org) on February 19th, 2019. Data collected with Privacy Score was done one-time only, as the presence of trackers is tied with the website, not the research subject. The data collection reflects the state of the particular website at that particular data. Data collected showed that the number of third party embeds (third parties that provide services to the first party) is 575 for only ten websites, set by 328 unique companies, and the number of third-party calls is 172. The queried websites were: Wired, The Guardian, Ars Technica, EuraktivJobs, Forumotion, Motheboard (VICE), Politico EU. The found trackers were tringulated with data from Better.fyi and WhoTracksMe in order to detect the purpose for tracking and the tracking type detected. Visual analysis is provided in the published paper (see details below).

Collecting network information on political elites using conventional methods such as surveys and text records is challenging in authoritarian and/or conflict-ridden states. I introduce a data collection method for elite networks using scraping algorithms to capture public co-appearances at political and social events. Validity checks using existing data show the method effectively replicates interaction-based networks but not networks based on behavioral similarities; in both cases, measurement error remains a concern. Applying the method to Nigeria illustrates that patronage---measured in terms of public connectivity---does not drive national-oil-company appointments. Given that theories of elite behavior aim to understand individual-level interactions, the applicability of data using this technique is well-suited to situations where intrusive data collection is costly or prohibitive.

This collection contains survey data collected at the end of October 2004 from the 49 state law enforcement agencies in the United States that had traffic patrol responsibility. Information was gathered about their policies for recording race and ethnicity data for persons in traffic stops, including the circumstances under which demographic data should be collected for traffic-related stops and whether such information should be stored in an electronically accessible format. The survey was not designed to obtain available agency databases containing traffic stop records.
Received wisdom in survey practice suggests that using web mode in the first wave of a panelstudy is not as effective as using interviewers. Based on data from a two-wave mode experiment for the Swiss Household Panel (SHP), this study examines how the use of online data collection in the first wave affects participation in the second wave, and if so, who is affected. The experiment compared the traditional SHP design of telephone interviewing to a mixed-mode design combining a household questionnaire by telephone with individual questionnaires by web and to a web-only design for the household and individual questionnaires. We looked at both participation of the household reference person (HRP) and of all household members in multi-person households. We find no support for a higher dropout at wave 2 of HRPs who followed the mixed-mode protocol or who participated online. Neither do we find much evidence that the association between mode and dropout varies by socio-demographic characteristics. The only exception was that of higher dropout rates among HRPs of larger households in the telephone group, compared to the web-only group. Moreover, the mixed-mode and web-only designs were more successful than the telephone design in enrolling and keeping all eligible household members in multi-person households in the study. In conclusion, the results suggest that using web mode (whether alone or combined with telephone) when starting a new panel shows no clear disadvantage with respect to second wave participation compared with telephone interviews.
