Google.com continues to dominate the digital landscape, ranking as the most linked-to website worldwide with 468,745 referring subnets as of December 2024. Facebook.com follows closely in second place with 470,479 referring subnets, while YouTube.com ranked third with 417,827.

In August 2025, Google.com was the most visited website worldwide, with an average of 98.2 billion monthly visits. The platform has maintained its leading position since June 2010, when it surpassed Yahoo to take first place. YouTube ranked second during the same period, recording over 48 billion monthly visits. The internet leaders: search, social, and e-commerce Social networks, search engines, and e-commerce websites shape the online experience as we know it. While Google leads the global online search market by far, YouTube and Facebook have become the world’s most popular websites for user generated content, solidifying Alphabet’s and Meta’s leadership over the online landscape. Meanwhile, websites such as Amazon and eBay generate millions in profits from the sale and distribution of goods, making the e-market sector an integral part of the global retail scene. What is next for online content? Powering social media and websites like Reddit and Wikipedia, user-generated content keeps moving the internet’s engines. However, the rise of generative artificial intelligence will bring significant changes to how online content is produced and handled. ChatGPT is already transforming how online search is performed, and news of Google's 2024 deal for licensing Reddit content to train large language models (LLMs) signal that the internet is likely to go through a new revolution. While AI's impact on the online market might bring both opportunities and challenges, effective content management will remain crucial for profitability on the web.

About FIFA

FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association, which translates to International Federation of Association Football, in English.

It is the governing body of association football, more commonly known as soccer. Founded in 1904, FIFA oversees and organizes the most prestigious football tournaments worldwide, including the FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Confederations Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

This dataset shows all team's rankings over the years, since 1992.

Score Calculation

In August 2018, a new model took effect, after approval by the FIFA Council. This new version developed by FIFA was named "SUM" as it relies on adding/subtracting points won or lost for a game to/from the previous point totals, rather than averaging game points over a given time period as in the previous version of the World Ranking.

The points which are added or subtracted are partially determined by the relative strength of the two opponents, including the logical expectation that teams higher in the ranking should fare better against teams lower in the ranking.

In August 2025, Google.com was the most visited website worldwide, attracting approximately 5.66 billion unique monthly visitors. YouTube.com ranked second, with an estimated 2.98 billion unique visitors. Both platforms also held the top positions globally in terms of total website visits.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a classification of academic and research-related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation outputs and societal impact measured by their web visibility. It provides a friendly interface that allows the visualization of any customized ranking from the combination of these three sets of indicators. Additionally, it is possible to compare the trends for individual indicators of up to six institutions. For each large sector it is also possible to obtain distribution charts of the different indicators. For comparative purposes, the value of the composite indicator has been set on a scale of 0 to 100. However the line graphs and bar graphs always represent ranks (lower is better, so the highest values are the worst).

They're useful for deciding which university to attend, teach at, or invest in. Despite criticisms, they're a valuable tool for universities to assess their performance and identify areas for improvement. Ultimate University Ranking dataset aggregated the data from various sources for several past years. The data is collected directly from the web page in the case that the source does not provide an export option.
