    Description

This data set includes ArcInfo-formatted maps of the Kuparuk River Basin Region of the Alaskan North Slope (at 1:250,000 scale) and five subset study areas: the Upper Kuparuk River Basin Subregion (1:25,000), the Imnavait Creek Landscape (1:6,000), the Toolik Lake Landscape (1:5,000), the Imnavait Creek Grid (1:500), and the Toolik Lake Grid (1:500). Land cover (satellite-derived) and elevation data (USGS DEM-derived) are provided for the Kuparuk River Basin Region. For the five subset areas, an integrated terrain unit mapping (ITUM) approach simultaneously mapped vegetation and other terrain features as interpreted in the field from a common aerial-photograph base. The result is a single ITUM map for each area, including vegetation, geomorphology, glacial geology, and many other features. Various supplemental maps (e.g., hydrologic features and roads) for each of the areas are available for use as overlays.

This data set delineates the boundaries of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service geographic Regions. The dataset was created as a geographic representation of the Regional administrative boundaries of the US Fish and Wildlife Service at a very coarse scale. The boundaries were created using the ArcGIS shoreline dataset from approximately 1995. This dataset should not be used for legal purposes or at small scales and does not accurately denote the shorelines of the united states. The Regional Boundaries data set is managed by the FWS Headquarters Information Resources and Technology Management, Branch of Geospatial Data Management. The complete data and metadata can be accessed here: https://catalog.data.gov/dataset/us-fish-and-wildlife-service-regional-boundaries. Description

RTB Maps is a cloud-based electronic Atlas. We used ArGIS 10 for Desktop with Spatial Analysis Extension, ArcGIS 10 for Server on-premise, ArcGIS API for Javascript, IIS web services based on .NET, and ArcGIS Online combining data on the cloud with data and applications on our local server to develop an Atlas that brings together many of the map themes related to development of roots, tubers and banana crops. The Atlas is structured to allow our participating scientists to understand the distribution of the crops and observe the spatial distribution of many of the obstacles to production of these crops. The Atlas also includes an application to allow our partners to evaluate the importance of different factors when setting priorities for research and development. The application uses weighted overlay analysis within a multi-criteria decision analysis framework to rate the importance of factors when establishing geographic priorities for research and development.Datasets of crop distribution maps, agroecology maps, biotic and abiotic constraints to crop production, poverty maps and other demographic indicators are used as a key inputs to multi-objective criteria analysis.Further metadata/references can be found here: http://gisweb.ciat.cgiar.org/RTBmaps/DataAvailability_RTBMaps.htmlDISCLAIMER, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND PERMISSIONS:This service is provided by Roots, Tubers and Bananas CGIAR Research Program as a public service. Description

This data set contains small-scale base GIS data layers compiled by the National Park Service Servicewide Inventory and Monitoring Program and Water Resources Division for use in a Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Report that was prepared for the park. The report presents the results of surface water quality data retrievals for the park from six of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) national databases: (1) Storage and Retrieval (STORET) water quality database management system; (2) River Reach File (RF3) Hydrography; (3) Industrial Facilities Discharges; (4) Drinking Water Supplies; (5) Water Gages; and (6) Water Impoundments. The small-scale GIS data layers were used to prepare the maps included in the report that depict the locations of water quality monitoring stations, industrial discharges, drinking intakes, water gages, and water impoundments. The data layers included in the maps (and this dataset) vary depending on availability, but generally include roads, hydrography, political boundaries, USGS 7.5' minute quadrangle outlines, hydrologic units, trails, and others as appropriate. The scales of each layer vary depending on data source but are generally 1:100,000.

This layer contains data defining the exterior boundaries of land under common ownership, typically within condominium properties within Fairfax County, Virginia. The common area layer was created to depict these areas of land that do not actually have parcel identification numbers. These areas of land are owned by a group of properties that lie within the common area. Information portrayed on this layer was initially derived from the ink-on-mylar property maps maintained by the County since the early 1960s.

    Description

The USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) downloadable data collection from The National Map (TNM) is a comprehensive set of digital spatial data that encodes information about naturally occurring and constructed bodies of surface water (lakes, ponds, and reservoirs), paths through which water flows (canals, ditches, streams, and rivers), and related entities such as point features (springs, wells, stream gages, and dams). The information encoded about these features includes classification and other characteristics, delineation, geographic name, position and related measures, a "reach code" through which other information can be related to the NHD, and the direction of water flow. The network of reach codes delineating water and transported material flow allows users to trace movement in upstream and downstream directions. In addition to this geographic information, the dataset contains metadata that supports the exchange of future updates and improvements to the data. The NHD supports many applications, such as making maps, geocoding observations, flow modeling, data maintenance, and stewardship. For additional information on NHD, go to https://www.usgs.gov/core-science-systems/ngp/national-hydrography.

DWR was the steward for NHD and Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) in California. We worked with other organizations to edit and improve NHD and WBD, using the business rules for California. California's NHD improvements were sent to USGS for incorporation into the national database. The most up-to-date products are accessible from the USGS website. Please note that the California portion of the National Hydrography Dataset is appropriate for use at the 1:24,000 scale.

For additional derivative products and resources, including the major features in geopackage format, please go to this page: https://data.cnra.ca.gov/dataset/nhd-major-features Archives of previous statewide extracts of the NHD going back to 2018 may be found at https://data.cnra.ca.gov/dataset/nhd-archive.

In September 2022, USGS officially notified DWR that the NHD would become static as USGS resources will be devoted to the transition to the new 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP). 3DHP will consist of LiDAR-derived hydrography at a higher resolution than NHD. Upon completion, 3DHP data will be easier to maintain, based on a modern data model and architecture, and better meet the requirements of users that were documented in the Hydrography Requirements and Benefits Study (2016). The initial releases of 3DHP include NHD data cross-walked into the 3DHP data model. It will take several years for the 3DHP to be built out for California. Please refer to the resources on this page for more information.

The FINAL,STATIC version of the National Hydrography Dataset for California was published for download by USGS on December 27, 2023. This dataset can no longer be edited by the state stewards. The next generation of national hydrography data is the USGS 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP).

Questions about the California stewardship of these datasets may be directed to nhd_stewardship@water.ca.gov.

    Description

Geodatabase feature class containing a map of vegetation within the Great Valley Ecoregion produced by the Geographical Information Center (GIC) at CSU Chico. The dataset combines both new mapping and the previously completed Central Valley Riparian and Sacramento Valley and the Southern San Joaquin Valley vegetation maps. Vegetation polygons were manually digitized as interpreted using the National Agricultural Inventory Program's (NAIP) 2009 (Central Valley Riparian and Sacramento Valley map), 2012 (Southern San Joaquin Valley map) and 2014 (balance of San Joaquin Valley) aerial imagery at a scale of 1:2000. The minimum mapping unit (mmu) for natural vegetation is 1.0 acre, with a minimum average width of 10 meters. The mmu for agricultural and urban polygons is 10 acres. Vegetation is attributed to the Group and Alliance level of the state and national vegetation hierarchy. In some cases, polygons were attributed only to Group or Macrogroup level when the Alliance could not be determined from photointerpretation. The map classification is based on the key to vegetation types in Buck-Diaz et al. 2012. The Central Valley and Sacramento Valley maps were assessed for Accuracy with an average users’ accuracy of 90.2 percent and users’ accuracy of 89 percent. The San Joaquin Valley portion of the map was field verified by the mappers but was not otherwise assessed for accuracy (see Supplemental Information below for details). More information can be found in the project report, which is bundled with the vegetation map published for BIOS here: https://filelib.wildlife.ca.gov/Public/BDB/GIS/BIOS/Public_Datasets/2600_2699/ds2632.zip" STYLE="text-decoration:underline;">https://filelib.wildlife.ca.gov/Public/BDB/GIS/BIOS/Public_Datasets/2600_2699/ds2632.zip.
