A joint venture involving the National Atlas programs in Canada (Natural Resources Canada), Mexico (Instituto Nacional de Estadstica Geografa e Informtica), and the United States (U.S. Geological Survey), as well as the North American Commission for Environmental Co-operation, has led to the release (June 2004) of several new products: an updated paper map of North America, and its associated geospatial data sets and their metadata. These data sets are available online from each of the partner countries both for download. This data has been revised and re-released in 2006. The North American Atlas data are standardized geospatial data sets at 1:10,000,000 scale. A variety of basic data layers (e.g. roads, railroads, populated places, political boundaries, hydrography, bathymetry, sea ice and glaciers) have been integrated so that their relative positions are correct. This collection of data sets forms a base with which other North American thematic data may be integrated. Any data outside of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America included in the North American Atlas data sets is strictly to complete the context of the data. The North American Atlas - Political Boundaries data set shows political entities in North America as polygons representing jurisdictional areas, and as lines representing political boundaries, including International boundaries, Provincial boundaries, State or territory boundaries, and the International Date Line.

This dataset displays the population statistics regarding the mother tongue of the population at the time of the 2006 Census of Canada. This data was collected from Statistics Canada, and is available on the census division level. Due to the size of the files, this dataset has been broken down into census divisions according to each Province or Territory. Mother tongue refers to the first language learned at home in childhood and still understood by the individual at the time of the census.

This dataset explores the farm population of Canada by province by comparing the populations from 1996 to 2001. 1. Refers to all persons who are members of a farm operator's household, living on a farm in a rural or urban area. 2. Refers to sparsely populated lands lying outside urban areas. 3. Refers to areas with minimum population concentrations of 1,000 and a population density of at least 400 per square kilometre, based on the previous census population counts. Results for provinces/territories/Canada are reported, but data for CDs is not. Since these surveys may not include all CSDs within a given CD, we have not attempted to aggregate this CSD data into CDs. Data from any custom census order by HART does not include CMA/CAs. We are able to aggregate the data by CSD into CMA/CAs, but all income and shelter cost data had been categorized based on the AMHI of the CSD as part of the original order (i.e. whether a household is "Very Low" income or "Low" income depends on the median household income of the CSD that the household lives in). This will lead to some inaccuracy and ambiguity of interpretation for the income or shelter cost data reported for CMAs. Data on "gender diverse" households is only available from Statistics Canada for geographies with a population count greater than 50,000 as of the 2021 census. This represents a total of 239 geographies (incl. Canada and the provinces/territories). Due to the low number of CSDs with this data, we have not attempted to aggregated this to the CMA/CA level.
