    Description

This table contains data from the December release of Canadian Business Counts for 2007 until the latest complete year. The data includes the year, 2-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code, and a count of the number of businesses by number of employees. The table data shows the number of businesses categorized by the number of employees they have. Please ensure you read the notes provided below, as there is very important information on classification and comparability. NotesStatistics Canada advises users not to use these data as a time series. Further, the counts may reflect some of the business openings and closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, although they will not be fully represented as the evolving resumption or permanent closure of businesses may not yet be fully processed and confirmed by Statistics Canada's Business Register (The Daily — Canadian business counts, December 2021 (statcan.gc.ca)).Changes in methodology or in business industrial classification strategies used by Statistics Canada's Business Register can create increases or decreases in the number of active businesses reported in the data on Canadian business patterns. As a result, these data do not represent changes in the business population over time. Statistics Canada recommends users not to use these data as a time series. Beginning in December 2014, there were several important changes that were made:

The data appear in two separate series, one covering locations with employees, the other covering locations without employees. The second series corresponds to locations previously coded to the employment category called "indeterminate." A new North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) category has been added to include locations that have not yet received a NAICS code: unclassified. It represents an additional 78,718 locations with employees and 313,107 locations without employees. The second series, locations without employees, also includes locations that were not previously included in tables but that meet the criteria used to define the Business Register coverage. The impact of the change will be the inclusion of approximately 600,000 additional locations.

Before 2014, the following notes apply:

The establishments in the "Indeterminate" category do not maintain an employee payroll, but may have a workforce which consists of contracted workers, family members or business owners. However, the Business Register does not have this information available, and has therefore assigned the establishments to an "Indeterminate" category. This category also includes employers who did not have employees in the last 12 months. Please note that the employment size ranges are based on data derived from payroll remittances. As such, it should be viewed solely as a business stratification variable. Its primary purpose is to improve the efficiency of samples selected to conduct statistical surveys. It should not be used in any manner to compile industry employment estimates. Employment, grouped in employment size ranges, is more often than not an estimation of the annual maximum number of employees. For example, a measure of "10 employees" could represent "10 full-time employees", "20 part-time employees" or any other combination. For more information refer to Statistics Canada's Definitions and Concepts used in Business Register.

    Description

The hamlets feature class is a point dataset containing named places for the main purpose of cartography. The original feature class only contained names within Peel Region and almost exclusively focused on the names of former villages and towns in the Region. This new, expanded feature class still contains these locales, but now includes administrative names and locales inside and outside of Peel Region. The feature class schema was expanded and made to allow the addition of other types of named places in the future, such as natural features like peaks or geologic formations (i.e. Niagara Escarpment) if needed. It also provides more methods for querying different features through several categories and hierarchies that should help provide scale-based querying and styling. The main purpose of this dataset is for use in labelling (cartography) and shouldn't be taken to be exhaustive or exact.

Hydroelectric Station - Major transmission/transformer stations and power stations (power plants). Delineates the pad containing the utility components, not the parcel or fence line of the station. Power stations (power plants or generating stations) are delineated by the building where the generators are located. Hydroelectric Structure - Alignment of hydro transmission towers and poles. They are to be used with Hydroelectric Line. Please note that a majority of the transmission lines and structures are maintained by HydroOne and not the Cities, Town, or Region.

The dataset includes the main address ("prime address") as well as associated unit addresses, when known. The address data covers all types of addresses (residential, commercial, industrial, greenspace, etc.). Various data sources feed the address point database, such as employment surveys, development applications, day-to-day Regional work, and the local municipalities.Addresses are first placed on the parcel and then their location is more refined as more data or updated imagery is available. A majority of the addresses are placed on the building centroid. Units may be placed in no particular order or location on a building, but if enough information is available they may be placed at the location of the actual unit in the building. The ROPADRID field is a unique identifier for each address, LINK_ID provides the ROPSTSEGID of the related street segment, and SIDE_OF_RD provides the side of the street the address is on.

Collection Day: Defines the day of the week waste is collected.Collection Alternation Garbage or Recycling: Collection Day Sub-Group defines the alternation between garbage and recycling pickup from week to week. If a collection sub group for Monday "A" has garbage collected on a particular week, Monday "B" will have recycling collected that same week.Organics (green bin) is collected every week.PLEASE NOTE: The zones generally follow the centre line of the Roads. However, properties on both sides of a road that straddle a boundary may have the same collection day (to minimize resident confusion). Thus, if you are defining properties (or addresses) within each collection day, there may be some exceptions along these boundaries.Last update: April 14, 2020Source Data: https://data.peelregion.ca/datasets/waste-collection-zonesApps: Region of Peel When Does It Go?Mr. Bin - Tablet and Smartphone app that reminds you when to put out your bins and what bins should be put out.
