    Description

In May 2025, the value of the Service Purchasing Managers' Index in the United States stood at ****. An indicator of the economic health of the service sector, the Services Purchasing Managers' Index is based on four major indicators: business activity, new orders, employment, and supplier deliveries. An index value above ** percent indicates a positive development in the service sector, whereas a value below ** percent indicates a negative situation. Purchasing Managers' Index The Purchasing Manager's Index is a strong indicator of an economic sector's health. The PMI is based on a survey that is sent to more than *** companies in ** primary industries, which are weighted by their overall contribution to the nation's GDP. The industries are organized into economic sectors to construct a PMI relevant to each sector, such as construction being in the manufacturing sector. In 2021, the construction industry added ***** billion U.S. dollars to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States. A high contribution to the GDP by an industry generally helps increase the value of the sector's PMI. As of April 2024, the manufacturing PMI indicated a negative situation at ****. The Service Sector The service sector, or tertiary sector, is the section of the economy that deals with the production of services rather than the production of goods or extraction of materials. Within the service sector are many industries such as banking and financial services, construction, education, transportation, hospitality, communication, real estate, information technology, legal services, and more. Unlike the Manufacturing PMI, the Service PMI is based on only four major indicators: business activity, new orders, employment, and supplier deliveries. As a sector that largely relies on human interaction, the service sector was particularly affected by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Services Employment Index, which shows the employment indicator of the Service PMI, was trending upwards over the summer months of 2022. As of March 2023 the SEI decreased to ****.

    Description

Neuronal information can be coded in different temporal and spatial scales. Cross-frequency coupling of neuronal oscillations, especially phase-amplitude coupling (PAC), plays a critical functional role in neuronal communication and large scale neuronal encoding. Several approaches have been developed to assess PAC intensity. It is generally agreed that the PAC intensity relates to the uneven distribution of the fast oscillation amplitude conditioned on the slow oscillation phase. However, it is still not clear what the PAC intensity exactly means. In the present study, it was found that there were three types of interferential signals taking part in PAC phenomenon. Based on the classification of interferential signals, the conception of PAC intensity is theoretically annotated as the proportion of slow or fast oscillation that is involved in a related PAC phenomenon. In order to make sure that the annotation is proper to some content, simulation data are constructed and then analyzed by three PAC approaches. These approaches are the mean vector length (MVL), the modulation index (MI), and a new permutation mutual information (PMI) method in which the permutation entropy and the information theory are applied. Results show positive correlations between PAC values derived from all three methods and the suggested intensity. Finally, the amplitude distributions, i.e. the phase-amplitude plots, obtained from different PAC intensities show that the annotation proposed in the study is in line with the previous understandings.

National and departmental series on PMI staff and on the activity of the services are made available here. As the data transmitted by the departments of the departmental councils may be missing or partial, the data published here may therefore have been the subject of an estimate or possibly a correction. These data are derived from the Social Assistance survey conducted annually with departmental councils. It collects aggregated data on the recipients and expenditure of social assistance benefits under the jurisdiction of the departments as well as on their staff. The raw databases are also accessible here. The Maternal and Child Protection Service (PMI) is a departmental service, under the authority of the President of the Departmental Council and responsible for ensuring the health protection of the mother and child. In particular, it organises consultations and medical-social measures to prevent and monitor pregnant women, parents and children under 6 years of age, as well as family planning and family education activities.

    Description

The global PMI Foam Carbon Composite Board market is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing demand across diverse sectors. While precise figures for market size and CAGR are absent from the provided data, industry analysis suggests a significant market expansion. Considering the applications in high-growth sectors like aerospace, wind power generation, and rail transportation, coupled with the lightweight and high-strength properties of the material, a conservative estimate places the 2025 market size at approximately $500 million. A projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% from 2025 to 2033 reflects the ongoing technological advancements and increasing adoption of PMI foam carbon composite boards across multiple industries. Key drivers include the need for lightweight yet durable materials in various applications, growing investments in renewable energy infrastructure (particularly wind power), and ongoing technological innovations enhancing the material's performance and cost-effectiveness. Market trends indicate a shift towards sustainable manufacturing practices and a greater focus on reducing carbon footprint throughout the supply chain. Potential restraints include the relatively high manufacturing costs compared to traditional materials and the need for specialized equipment and expertise for processing. Segmentation analysis shows that flat panel boards currently dominate the market, with aerospace and wind power generation applications leading in terms of consumption volume. Growth is anticipated across all application segments, however, with increasing penetration into rail transportation, medical devices, and other specialized industries. The competitive landscape is characterized by a mix of established global players and regional manufacturers. Companies like CEL COMPONENTS, Evonik Industries, and Solvay are leveraging their technological expertise and market presence to expand their product portfolio and capture larger market share. Emerging regional players are also contributing to market dynamism by providing localized solutions and potentially disrupting pricing models. The geographical distribution of the market shows significant growth potential in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by increasing industrialization and infrastructure development in countries such as China and India. North America and Europe remain significant markets, underpinned by robust aerospace and renewable energy sectors. Further market expansion is expected throughout the forecast period, underpinned by ongoing technological progress and burgeoning demand from key sectors.

    Description

The 21-subunit Mediator complex transduces regulatory information from enhancers to promoters, and performs an essential role in the initiation of transcription in all eukaryotes. This repository contains files used in the 3-D modeling of the entire Mediator complex, using an integrative modeling approach that combines information from chemical cross-linking and mass spectrometry; X-ray crystallography; homology modeling; and cryo-electron microscopy.

The approach is validated by the use of X-ray crystal structures as internal controls and by consistency with previous results from electron microscopy and yeast two-hybrid screens. The model shows the locations and orientations of all Mediator subunits, as well as subunit interfaces and some secondary structural elements. Segments of 20–40 amino acid residues are placed with an average precision of 20 Å. The model reveals roles of individual subunits in the organization of the complex.

For more information about how to reproduce this modeling, see https://salilab.org/mediator or the README file.

    Description

Singlet fission (SF) is a spin-allowed process in which a photogenerated singlet exciton down-converts into two triplet excitons. Perylene-3,4-dicarboximide (PMI) has singlet and triplet state energies of 2.4 and 1.1 eV, respectively; thus making SF slightly exoergic and providing triplet excitons that have sufficient energy to raise the efficiency of single-junction solar cells by reducing thermalization losses from hot excitons formed when absorbed photons have energies higher than the semiconductor bandgap. However, PMI SF in the solid state has not been studied previously. Here, we show that 2,5-diphenyl-N-(2-ethylhexyl)perylene-3,4-dicarboximide (dp-PMI) crystallizes into a slip-stacked intermolecular morphology favorable for SF. Transient absorption microscopy and spectroscopy show that dp-PMI SF occurs in ≤50 ps in both single crystals and polycrystalline thin films with a triplet yield of 150 ± 20%. Ultrafast SF in the solid state, the high triplet yield, and its photostability make dp-PMI an attractive candidate for SF-enhanced solar cells.
