This data set provides a detailed look into the US economy. It includes information on establishments and nonemployer businesses, as well as sales revenue, payrolls, and the number of employees. How to use the dataset

This dataset provides detailed US industry data by state, including the number of establishments, value of sales, payroll, and number of employees. All the data is based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for each specific industry. This will allow you to easily analyze and compare industries across different states or regions.

In an effort to increase transparency and to facilitate access to information on substances in commerce in Canada, the Government of Canada is publishing a summary of the information received in response to the Notice to provide information for the risk management of certain coal tars and their distillates. The notice was published on December 1, 2018 in the Canada Gazette, Part I, Vol. 152, No. 48, pursuant to paragraph 71(1)(b) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA). Information gathered under the notice will be considered to determine whether to control, or the manner in which to control the risks posed by the substance. Context

The Monthly State Retail Sales (MSRS) is the Census Bureau's new experimental data product featuring modeled state-level retail sales. This is a blended data product using Monthly Retail Trade Survey data, administrative data, and third-party data. Year-over-year percentage changes are available for Total Retail Sales excluding Non-store Retailers as well as 11 retail North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) retail subsectors. These data are provided by state and NAICS codes beginning with January 2019.

About this dataset

The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program is the most comprehensive labor market data source out there, collecting vital information on employment and wage trends across New York State. It provides a virtual census of 97 percent of the state's nonfarm employees and employers who are covered by the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Law, making it incredibly precise in measuring total wages, establishments, unemployment insurance reports, as well as crucial geographical labor information by state region and county.

An inventory of facilities that bottle water or other beverages containing water (including soft drinks, beer, wine, or spirits) or that manufacture ice was compiled by combining available datasets from multiple sources. This water bottling inventory dataset includes facilities within all 50 states of the United States (U.S.), one federal district (Washington, District of Columbia), and three territories (Guam, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands). The inventory focuses on active facilities in 2024. Most closed water bottling facilities are not included; however, facilities identified as being a former production site (meaning the facility is still active but the business function has changed) or as closed during data review were kept and had their status marked. This data release includes water bottling facilities that operate their own infrastructure and source water through their own water sources, including wells, springs, and surface waters; are on a public-supply water system; or are diversified in that they obtain water from their own sources and receive public-supply water deliveries. Facility classifications were based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. The NAICS is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. The NAICS is organized into a hierarchical structure with 3-digit codes representing the subsector and 6-digit codes representing the national industry. B.1 Buildings InventoryThe Building Footprints data layer is an inventory of buildings in Southeast Michigan representing both the shape of the building and attributes related to the location, size, and use of the structure. The layer was first developed in 2010 using heads-up digitizing to trace the outlines of buildings from 2010 one foot resolution aerial photography. This process was later repeated using six inch resolution imagery in 2015, 2020, and 2024 to add recently constructed buildings to the inventory. Due to differences in spatial accuracy between the 2010 imagery and later imagery sources, footprint polygons delineated in 2010 may appear shifted compared with imagery that is more recent.Building DefinitionFor the purposes of this data layer, a building is defined as a structure containing one or more housing units AND/OR at least 250 square feet of nonresidential job space. Detached garages, pole barns, utility sheds, and most structures on agricultural or recreational land uses are therefore not considered buildings as they do not contain housing units or dedicated nonresidential job space.How Current is the Buildings Footprints LayerThe building footprints data layer is current as of December 31, 2024. This date was chose to align with the timing of the 2020 Decennial Census, so that accurate comparisons of housing unit change can be made to evaluate the quality of Census data.Temporal AspectsThe building footprints data layer is designed to be temporal in nature, so that an accurate inventory of buildings at any point in time since the origination of the layer in April 2010 can be visualized. In an effort to increase transparency and to facilitate access to information on substances in commerce in Canada, the Government of Canada is publishing a summary of the information received in response to the Notice to provide information for the risk management of 1,4-benzenediamine, N,N′-mixed phenyl and tolyl derivatives (BENPAT). This dataset displays the aviation related businesses within Washington State. Industry sectors were selected that include businesses with a high propensity to rely on aviation services as part of their typical business activities. These activities include scheduled commercial service, general aviation, and air cargo. Industry types were identified by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code based on the findings of numerous economic impact studies conducted for state departments of transportation and individual airports across the U.S. and in close consultation with WSDOT Aviation. Information was collected from ESRI’s Community Analyst application in September 2019. This data is provided to the public as courtesy for general aviation planning purposes. The information provided should not be relied upon for navigational, engineering, legal or other site-specific uses. It may not show an airport's current capabilities or configuration. Inaccuracies in the layer may be attributed to: spatial errors in data, airport construction, or recent changes in airport capabilities. This ready-to-use layer can be used within ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, its configurable apps, dashboards, Story Maps, custom apps, and mobile apps. Data can also be exported for offline workflows. Please cite the Census Bureau and CBP when using this data.

Data Processing Notes: Boundaries come from the US Census Bureau TIGER geodatabases. Boundaries are updated at the same time as the data updates (annually), and the boundary vintage appropriately matches the data vintage as specified by the Census Bureau. These are Census Bureau boundaries with water and/or coastlines clipped for cartographic purposes. For census tracts, the water cutouts are derived from a subset of the 2010 AWATER (Area Water) boundaries offered by TIGER. For state and county boundaries, the water and coastlines are derived from the coastlines of the 500k TIGER Cartographic Boundary Shapefiles. The original AWATER and ALAND fields are still available as attributes within the data table (units are square meters). The States layer contains 56 records - all US states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Island Areas Blank values represent industries where there either were no businesses in that industry and that geography OR industries where the data had to be withheld to avoid disclosing data for individual companies. Users should visit data.census.gov or Census Business Builder for more details on these withheld records.

This dataset aggregated data about H-1B program for the past decade (2012-2022) using the open-source dataset available on USCIS's website that can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/tools/reports-and-studies/h-1b-employer-data-hub/h-1b-employer-data-hub-files

The data is available in CSV file format for each year. It contains 11 columns and here is what they mean:

1. Fiscal Year: The fiscal year ranges from Oct 1 of one year to Sept 30 of next year in US.
2. Employer Name: Name of the employer. An employer with multiple addresses can appear on many rows.
3. Initial Approval(IA): Number of H-1B petitions that are approved for new employment or new concurrent employment (i.e. filing for H-1B petitions via second employer while already having a valid H-1B status).
4. Initial Denial(ID): Number of H-1B petitions that are denied for new employment or new concurrent employment.
5. Continuing Approval(CA): Number of H-1B petitions that are approved other than new employment/new concurrent employment. For example, when changing an employer. Refer to official website for other scenarios.
6. Continuing Denial(CD): Number of H-1B petitions that are denied other than new employment/new concurrent employment. For example, when changing an employer. Refer to official website for other scenarios.
7. NAICS: North American Industry Classification System Code. The standard two-digit code in North America used to classify the industry to which a business belongs.
8. Tax ID: Last four digit of employer's Tax ID
9. State: The state in which employer resides.
10. City: The city in which employer resides.
11. Zip: The zip code in which employer resides.

This layer contains data on the number of establishments, total employment, and total annual payroll for for 20 selected 4- and 5-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. This is shown by county and state boundaries. The full CBP data set (available at census.gov) is updated annually to contain the most currently released CBP data.
