Data is a weekly average from January 2017 through current. Average daily retail gasoline prices are collected from the American Automobile Association (AAA) Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report prices are averaged to produce a weekly average retail price for New York State and each metropolitan region. The New York State metropolitan regions in the dataset are Albany (Albany-Schenectady-Troy), Batavia, Binghamton, Buffalo (Buffalo-Niagara Falls), Dutchess (Dutchess-Putnam), Elmira, Glens Falls, Ithaca, Kingston, Nassau (Nassau-Suffolk), New York City, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica (Utica-Rome), Watertown (Watertown-Fort Drum), and White Plains. Beginning in 2005, the Division of Community and Regional Affairs began collecting prices of heating fuel and unleaded gasoline in 100 select communities. The communities have remained constant since the project’s inception. The prices for unleaded gasoline in these 100 communities are collected via a telephone survey of each fuel retailer and reflect an “at the pump” price per gallon (including tax) on the day of contact. The survey is generally conducted once during the summer and once during the winter in any given year.

The fully annotated Gas Prices of America Dataset for Multi-Metric Extraction (GPA4MME) is a large-scale dataset of metric-specific annotations for gas prices and gas signs obtained from Google Streetview throughout the 49 mainland United States of America. The annotations greatly expand the utility of the original GPA dataset for multi-digit, multi-number price detection and context mapping (denoted Multi-Metric Extraction in our related publication). The dataset comprises manual segmentations of over 22,167 digits relating to over 4,766 prices and over 5,403 labels contained within 2,132 gas signs. The data are organized into the sub-directory structure in the attached image.
