The polygons on the plastic overlays were then corrected using photogrammetric procedures and converted to vector format for use in creating a geographic information system (GIS) database for each park. In addition, high resolution color orthophotographs were created from the original aerial photographs for use in the GIS. Upon completion of the GIS database (including vegetation, orthophotos and updated roads and hydrology layers), both hardcopy and softcopy maps were produced for delivery. Metadata for each database includes a description of the vegetation classification system used for each park, summary statistics and documentation of the sources, procedures and spatial accuracies of the data. At the time of this writing, an accuracy assessment of the vegetation mapping has not been performed for most of these parks.

This dataset contains the results of Land Use/Land Cover changes (LULC) analysis within the Bagno Chlebowo peatland (52°43'54''N, 16°44'7''E). Data was created as a result of analysis of archival and contemporary cartographic materials (Ur-messtischblatt maps, sheet 1713 from 1832; Messtischblatt from 1892, Polajewo sheet) and the BDOT10k geospatial database (from 2020).The data was created in GIS software and may be displayed, validated, and edited in an open software, e.g., QGIS.The dataset contains the following LULC classes: wetland, forest, open water, open area, and streams.The shx, dbf, cpg, prj, and qmd are supported by the open QGIS software and are auxiliary files for the correct operation of the shp file. The final results of the spatial analysis are displayed in LULC1823-2020.pdf.
The files linked to this reference are the geospatial data created as part of the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Current format is ArcGIS file geodatabase but older formats may exist as shapefiles. We used ERDAS Imagine ® Professional 9.2, ENVI ® 4.5, and ArcGIS ® 9.3 with Arc Workstation to develop the vegetation spatial database. Existing GIS datasets that we used to provide mapping information include a NPS park boundary shapefile for VICK (including a 100 meter buffer boundary around the Louisiana Circle, South Fort, and Navy Circle satellite units), a land cover shapefile created by the NWRC (Rangoonwala et al. 2007), and the National Elevation Dataset (NED) (used as the source of the 10-meter elevation model and derived streams, slope, and hillshade). To make the entire spatial data set consistent with NPSVI policies to map only to park boundaries, we clipped the vegetation in and around the previously buffered areas around the Louisiana Circle, South Fort, and Navy Circle satellite unit NPS boundaries. We also added to the spatial database vegetation polygons for the previously omitted Grant’s Canal satellite unit by heads-up digitizing this area from a National Agricultural Information Program (NAIP) image.

HydroShare is a web-based repository and hydrologic information system operated by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) for users to share, collaborate around, and publish data, models, scripts, and applications associated with water related research. It serves as a repository for data and models to meet Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) open data mandates. Beyond content storage, the HydroShare repository also links with connected computational systems providing immediate value to users through the ability to reduce the needs for software installation and configuration and to document workflows, enhancing reproducibility. These approaches have facilitated considerable sharing and publication of data associated with research in HydroShare, enabling its re-use and the integration of data from multiple users to support broader synthesis studies. Data types supported include multidimensional netCDF, time series, geographic rasters and features. The use of social media and location-based networks through GPS-enabled devices provides geospatial data for a plethora of applications in urban studies. However, the extent to which information found in geo-tagged social media activity corresponds to the spatial context is still a topic of debate. In this article, we developed a framework aimed at retrieving the thematic and spatial relationships between content originated from space-based (Twitter) and place-based (Google Places and OSM) sources of geographic user-generated content based on topics identified by the embedding-based BERTopic model. The contribution of the framework lies on the combination of methods that were selected to improve previous works focused on content-location relationships. Using the city of Lisbon (Portugal) to test our methodology, we first applied the embedding-based topic model to aggregated textual data coming from each source. Results of the analysis evidenced the complexity of content-location relationships, which are mostly based on thematic profiles. Nonetheless, the framework can be employed in other cities and extended with other metrics to enrich the research aimed at exploring the correlation between online discourse and geography.
