    Description

GeoJunxion‘s ZIP+4 is a complete dataset based on US postal data consisting of plus 35 millions of polygons. The dataset is NOT JUST a table of spot data, which can be downloaded as csv or other text file as it happens with other suppliers. The data can be delivered as shapefile through a single RAW data delivery or through an API.

The January 2021 USPS data source has significantly changed since the previous delivery. Some States have sizably lower ZIP+4 totals across all counties when compared with previous deliveries due to USPS parcelpoint cleanup, while other States have a significant increase in ZIP+4 totals across all counties due to cleanup and other rezoning. California and North Carolina in particular have several new ZIP5s, contributing to the increase in distinct ZIPs and ZIP+4s.

GeoJunxion‘s ZIP+4 data can be used as an additional layer on an existing map to run customer or other analysis, e.g. who is my customer who not, what is the density of my customer base in a certain ZIP+4 etc.

Information can be put into visual context, due to the polygons, which is good for complex overviews or management decisions. CRM data can be enriched with the ZIP+4 to have more detailed customer information.

    Key specifications:

    Topologized ZIP polygons

GeoJunxion ZIP+4 polygons follow USPS postal codes

    ZIP+4 code polygons:

    ZIP5 attributes

    State codes.

    Overlapping ZIP+4

boundaries for multiple ZIP+4 addresses on one area

    Updated USPS source (January 2021)

    Distinct ZIP5 codes: 34 731

    Distinct ZIP+4 codes: 35 146 957

The ZIP + 4 polygons are delivered in Esri shapefile format. This format allows the storage of geometry and attribute information for each of the features.

The four components for the shapefile data are:

.shp – This file stores the geometry of the feature

.shx –This file stores an index that stores the feature geometry

.dbf –This file stores attribute information relating to individual features

.prj –This file stores projection information associated with features

    Description

We have taken the Uso del Suelo y Vegetacion land cover classification products for Mexico (courtesy of Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia, or INEGI) for years 1985, 1993, 2002, 2007, and 2011 (INEGI, 2015); harmonized their classes with the classes of the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics Consortium (MRLC) National Land Cover Database (NLCD) (Homer et al., 2015), and merged the two datasets to form a single land cover product covering the continental US and Mexico, for years 1992/3, 2001/2, and 2011. Details of processing, along with the processing scripts, are archived in GitHub in the NLCD_INEGI project (Bohn, 2019).

Output files are ESRI ascii-format raster files, geographic projection, 0.000350884 degree cellsize. Each file contains a 1x1 degree box or "tile", named nlcd_inegi.lat0_lat1n.lon0_lon1w.asc, where lat0 and lat1 are the south and north boundaries of the box and lon0 and lon1 are the west and east boundaries (west = positive).

This project contains the following g-zipped tar files:

    • 1992.tgz - land cover from 1992 (NLCD) and 1993 (INEGI)
    • 2001.tgz - land cover from 2001 (NLCD) and 2002 (INEGI)
    • 2011.tgz - land cover from 2011 (both NLCD and INEGI)
    • stable_2001-2011.tgz - land cover from those pixels that had the same class in 2001 and 2011 ("stable" pixels)

On LINUX, the contents of these files can be extracted via "tar":

    tar -xvzf 1992.tgz >& log.tar.txt

On Windows, applications such as "7-zip" can extract the contents.

Each of these .tgz files contain a folder with the same name but without the ".tgz". Within each of these folders is a sub-folder called "asc.clip.1deg". This folder contains the 1x1 tiles.

    Description

The 2020 North American Land Cover 30-meter dataset was produced as part of the North American Land Change Monitoring System (NALCMS), a trilateral effort between Natural Resources Canada, the United States Geological Survey, and three Mexican organizations including the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía), National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of the Biodiversity (Comisión Nacional Para el Conocimiento y Uso de la Biodiversidad), and the National Forestry Commission of Mexico (Comisión Nacional Forestal). The collaboration is facilitated by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, an international organization created by the Canada, Mexico, and United States governments under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation to promote environmental collaboration between the three countries. The general objective of NALCMS is to devise, through collective effort, a harmonized multi-scale land cover monitoring approach which ensures high accuracy and consistency in monitoring land cover changes at the North American scale and which meets each country’s specific requirements. This 30-meter dataset of North American Land Cover reflects land cover information for 2020 from Mexico and Canada, 2019 over the conterminous United States and 2021 over Alaska. Each country developed its own classification method to identify Land Cover classes and then provided an input layer to produce a continental Land Cover map across North America. Canada, Mexico, and the United States developed their own 30-meter land cover products; see specific sections on data generation below. The main inputs for image classification were 30-meter Landsat 8 Collection 2 Level 1 data in the three countries (Canada, the United States and Mexico). Image selection processes and reduction to specific spectral bands varied among the countries due to study-site-specific requirements. While Canada selected most images from the year 2020 with a few from 2019 and 2021, the Conterminous United States employed mainly images from 2019, while Alaska land cover maps are mainly based on the use of images from 2021. The land cover map for Mexico was based on land cover change detection between 2015 and 2020 Mexico Landsat 8 mosaics. In order to generate a seamless and consistent land cover map of North America, national maps were generated for Canada by the CCRS; for Mexico by CONABIO, INEGI, and CONAFOR; and for the United States by the USGS. Each country chose their own approaches, ancillary data, and land cover mapping methodologies to create national datasets. This North America dataset was produced by combining the national land cover datasets. The integration of the three national products merged four Land Cover map sections, Alaska, Canada, the conterminous United States and Mexico.

    Description

A joint venture involving the National Atlas programs in Canada (Natural Resources Canada), Mexico (Instituto Nacional de Estad stica Geograf a e Inform tica), and the United States (U.S. Geological Survey), as well as the North American Commission for Environmental Co-operation, has led to the release (June 2004) of several new products: an updated paper map of North America, and its associated geospatial data sets and their metadata. These data sets are available online from each of the partner countries both for visualization and download. The North American Atlas data are standardized geospatial data sets at 1:10,000,000 scale. A variety of basic data layers (e.g. roads, railroads, populated places, political boundaries, hydrography, bathymetry, sea ice and glaciers) have been integrated so that their relative positions are correct. This collection of data sets forms a base with which other North American thematic data may be integrated. Any data outside of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America included in the North American Atlas data sets is strictly to complete the context of the data. The North American Atlas - Political Boundaries data set shows political entities in North America as polygons representing jurisdictional areas, and as lines representing political boundaries, including International boundaries, Provincial boundaries, State or territory boundaries, and the International Date Line. This data set was produced using digital files supplied by Natural Resources Canada, Instituto Nacional de Estad stica Geograf a e Inform tica, and the U.S. Geological Survey.

    Description

This is a 1 arc-second (approximately 30 m) resolution tiled collection of the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) seamless data products . 3DEP data serve as the elevation layer of The National Map, and provide basic elevation information for Earth science studies and mapping applications in the United States. Scientists and resource managers use 3DEP data for global change research, hydrologic modeling, resource monitoring, mapping and visualization, and many other applications. 3DEP data compose an elevation dataset that consists of seamless layers and a high resolution layer. Each of these layers consists of the best available raster elevation data of the conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, territorial islands, Mexico and Canada. 3DEP data are updated continually as new data become available. Seamless 3DEP data are derived from diverse source data that are processed to a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. These data are distributed in geographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are in meters and, over the conterminous United States, are referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88). The vertical reference will vary in other areas. The elevations in these DEMs represent the topographic bare-earth surface. All 3DEP products are public domain. This dataset includes data over Canada and Mexico as part of an international, interagency collaboration with the Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) Centre for Topographic Information-Sherbrook, Ottawa. Description

This National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) archival information package (AIP) contains a product generated by NCEI-- the Global Ocean Currents Database (GOCD). It is derived from NCEI AIPs that hold in situ ocean current data from a diverse range of instruments, collection protocols, processing methods, and data storage formats. For acceptance into the GOCD, the data must have sufficient quality control and thorough documentation. The GODC merges the variety of original formats into the NCEI standard network common data form (NetCDF) format. From the shipboard acoustic Doppler current profiler sets, the GOCD creates files that hold single vertical ocean currents profiles. The GOCD spans 1962 to 2013.

    Description

This data set provides two products that were derived from the recently published North American Carbon Program (NACP) Regional Synthesis 1-degree terrestrial biosphere model (TBM) and inverse model (IM) outputs (Gridded 1-deg Observation Data and Biosphere and Inverse Model Outputs, Wei et al., 2013). The first product is the aggregation of the standardized gridded 1-degree TBM and IM outputs to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory zones as defined for North America (United States, Canada, and Mexico). Depending on the data availability, the monthly/yearly Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE), Net Primary Production (NPP), Total Vegetation Carbon (VegC), Heterotrophic Respiration (Rh), and Fire Emissions (FE) outputs from the 22 TBM and 7 IM models were aggregated from the 1-degree resolution gridded format to the inventory zones and then, further divided into Forest Lands, Crop Lands, and Other Lands sectors within each inventory zone based on the 1-km resolution GLC2000 land cover map (GLC2000, 2003).The second product is the North American national GHG inventories on the scale of inventory zones which contain estimated land-atmosphere exchange of CO2 (NEE) in forest lands, crop lands, and other lands sectors. NEE estimates were synthesized from inventory-based data on productivity, ecosystem carbon stock change, and harvested product stock change, and additional information from national-level GHG inventories of the United States, Canada, and Mexico including EPA (2011) and Environment Canada (2011).An additional summary file of annual mean NEE (2000-2006)is provided for both land sectors and reporting zones in North America and was created by combining the aggregated model output and the national GHG database and is provided. The aggregated monthly and yearly model output data and the national GHG inventories data are available in comma separated value (*.csv) format files. Also provided are detailed inventory zone spatial data as an ESRI Shapefile. Included are zone names, boundaries, and zone and land cover type area attributes. For mapping convenience, the inventory zones shapefile was merged with 1-km forest, crop, and other lands masks to create a 1-km resolution reference data file that was converted to GeoTIFF format. The GeoTIFF defines to which inventory zone and land cover type each 1-km grid cell belongs. This document provides detailed information about the content, format, and processing procedures of these two data products. Detailed descriptions of the TBMs and IMs can be found in a separate companion document: NACP Regional Synthesis - Description of Observations and Models.
