    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of United States by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for United States. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of United States by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in United States. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for United States.

    These data are part of NACJD's Fast Track Release and are distributed as they there received from the data depositor. The files have been zipped by NACJD for release, but not checked or processed except of the removal of direct identifiers. Users should refer to the accompany readme file for a brief description of the files available with this collections and consult the investigator(s) if further information is needed. This study was a secondary analysis of National Violence Against Women Survey (NVAWS) data from Violence and Threats of Violence Against Women and Men in the United States, 1994-1996 (ICPSR 2566 - http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR02566.v1). This analysis examined the levels and patterns of repeat and multiple violent victimization, and their effects. Distributed here are the codes used to create the datasets and preform the secondary analysis. Please refer to the User Guide, distributed with this study, for more information.

Household incomes are measured two years prior to the mortality rate for mortality rates at ages 40-63, and at age 61 for mortality rates at ages 64-76.     Observations with 1 or 2 deaths have been masked: all mortality rates that reflect only 1 or 2 deaths have been recoded to reflect 3 deaths

Trend estimates for both race-adjusted and unadjusted life expectancies are reported. Estimates are reported for the 100 largest CZs (populations greater than 590,000) only.

    A broad and generalized selection of 2014-2018 US Census Bureau 2018 5-year American Community Survey population data estimates, obtained via Census API and joined to the appropriate geometry (in this case, New Mexico Census tracts). The selection is not comprehensive, but allows a first-level characterization of total population, male and female, and both broad and narrowly-defined age groups. In addition to the standard selection of age-group breakdowns (by male or female), the dataset provides supplemental calculated fields which combine several attributes into one (for example, the total population of persons under 18, or the number of females over 65 years of age). The determination of which estimates to include was based upon level of interest and providing a manageable dataset for users.The U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) is a nationwide, continuous survey designed to provide communities with reliable and timely demographic, housing, social, and economic data every year. The ACS collects long-form-type information throughout the decade rather than only once every 10 years. The ACS combines population or housing data from multiple years to produce reliable numbers for small counties, neighborhoods, and other local areas. To provide information for communities each year, the ACS provides 1-, 3-, and 5-year estimates. ACS 5-year estimates (multiyear estimates) are “period” estimates that represent data collected over a 60-month period of time (as opposed to “point-in-time” estimates, such as the decennial census, that approximate the characteristics of an area on a specific date). ACS data are released in the year immediately following the year in which they are collected. ACS estimates based on data collected from 2009–2014 should not be called “2009” or “2014” estimates. Multiyear estimates should be labeled to indicate clearly the full period of time. While the ACS contains margin of error (MOE) information, this dataset does not. Those individuals requiring more complete data are directed to download the more detailed datasets from the ACS American FactFinder website. This dataset is organized by Census tract boundaries in New Mexico. Census tracts are small, relatively permanent statistical subdivisions of a county or equivalent entity, and were defined by local participants as part of the 2010 Census Participant Statistical Areas Program. The primary purpose of census tracts is to provide a stable set of geographic units for the presentation of census data and comparison back to previous decennial censuses. Census tracts generally have a population size between 1,200 and 8,000 people, with an optimum size of 4,000 people. State and county boundaries always are census tract boundaries in the standard census geographic hierarchy. In a few rare instances, a census tract may consist of noncontiguous areas. These noncontiguous areas may occur where the census tracts are coextensive with all or parts of legal entities that are themselves noncontiguous. For the 2010 Census, the census tract code range of 9400 through 9499 was enforced for census tracts that include a majority American Indian population according to Census 2000 data and/or their area was primarily covered by federally recognized American Indian reservations and/or off-reservation trust lands; the code range 9800 through 9899 was enforced for those census tracts that contained little or no population and represented a relatively large special land use area such as a National Park, military installation, or a business/industrial park; and the code range 9900 through 9998 was enforced for those census tracts that contained only water area, no land area.

    Context

    The United States have recently become the country with the most reported cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). This dataset contains daily updated number of reported cases & deaths in the US on the state and county level, as provided by the Johns Hopkins University. In addition, I provide matching demographic information for US counties.

    Content

    The dataset consists of two main csv files: covid_us_county.csv and us_county.csv. See the column descriptions below for more detailed information. In addition, I've added US county shape files for geospatial plots: us_county.shp/dbf/prj/shx.

    • covid_us_county.csv: COVID-19 cases and deaths which will be updated daily. The data is provided by the Johns Hopkins University through their excellent github repo. I combined the separate "confirmed cases" and "deaths" files into a single table, removed a few (I think to be) redundant geo identifier columns, and reshaped the data into long format with a single date column. The earliest recorded cases are from 2020-01-22.

    • us_counties.csv: Demographic information on the US county level based on the (most recent) 2014-18 release of the Amercian Community Survey. Derived via the great tidycensus package.

    Column Description

    COVID-19 dataset covid_us_county.csv:

    • fips: County code in numeric format (i.e. no leading zeros). A small number of cases have NA values here, but can still be used for state-wise aggregation. Currently, this only affect the states of Massachusetts and Missouri.

    • county: Name of the US county. This is NA for the (aggregated counts of the) territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands.

    • state: Name of US state or territory.

    • state_code: Two letter abbreviation of US state (e.g. "CA" for "California"). This feature has NA values for the territories listed above.

    • lat and long: coordinates of the county or territory.

    • date: Reporting date.

    • cases & deaths: Cumulative numbers for cases & deaths.

    Demographic dataset us_counties.csv:

    • fips, county, state, state_code: same as above. The county names are slightly different, but mostly the difference is that this dataset has the word "County" added. I recommend to join on fips.

    • male & female: Population numbers for male and female.

    • population: Total population for the county. Provided as convenience feature; is always the sum of male + female.

    • female_percentage: Another convenience feature: female / population in percent.

    • median_age: Overall median age for the county.

    Scholarship on women voters in the United States has focused on the gender gap showing that women are more likely to vote for Democratic Party candidates than men since the 1980s. The persistence of the gender gap has nurtured the conclusion that women are Democrats. This article presents evidence upending that conventional wisdom. Data from the American National Election Study are analyzed to demonstrate that white women are the only group of female voters who support Republican Party candidates for president. They have done so by a majority in all but 2 of the last 18 elections. The relevance of race for partisan choice among women voters is estimated with data collected in 2008, 2012, and 2016, and the significance of being white is identified after accounting for political party identification and other predictors.

    All of the data is compiled from the NFHS 4th and 5th survey reports. The NFHS is a collaborative project of the International Institute for Population Sciences(IIPS), aimed at providing health data to strengthen India's health policies and programmes.

    This study examines the prevalence of violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women and men, using a large nationally representative sample from the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS). More specifically, it provides estimates of sexual violence, physical violence by intimate partners, stalking, and psychological aggression by intimate partners. It also provides estimates of interracial and intraracial victimizations and briefly examines the impact of violence. This study is based on two of the NISVS samples that were included in the 2010 data collection effort --the general population sample and the American Indian and Alaska Native oversample. This American Indian and Alaska Native oversample was collected from geographical areas (telephone exchanges) where at least 50% of the population identifies themselves as American Indian or Alaska Native. To increase the generalizability of the American Indian and Alaska Native sample (and to add interviews conducted by cell phone), a new "combined" sample was created by including (a) all respondents in the American Indian and Alaska Native oversample and (b) 677 respondents in the general population sample who identified themselves as American Indian or Alaska Native. By combining these samples, a new sample was obtained that is large enough to produce reliable and valid estimates for all women and men in the United States who identify themselves as American Indian or Alaska Native. For a more exact discussion of the sample, see the NIJ Technical Report. The combined sample includes 2,473 women and 1,505 men who identified themselves as American Indian or Alaska Native. Results from the combined American Indian and Alaska Native sample were compared to results from the sample of respondents in the general population sample who identified themselves as non-Hispanic White alone. The comparison sample includes 7,646 women and 6,050 men who identified themselves as non-Hispanic White alone. There are 5 data files included with this study. Dataset 1 (General Population Raw Data) contains 18,957 cases and 26,114 variables. Dataset 2 (American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) Oversample Raw Data) contains 3,612 cases and 22,932 variables. Dataset 3 (Respondent-level Data) contains 21,378 cases and 493 variables. Dataset 4 (Perpetrator-level Data) contains 51,535 cases and 446 variables. Dataset 5 (Weights File) contains 3,978 cases and 9 variables.

    Measurement technique
    The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) Population (Male), (b) Population (Female), and (c) Gender Ratio (Males per 100 Females), we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the gender classifications (biological sex) reported by the US Census Bureau across 18 age groups, ranging from under 5 years to 85 years and above.     About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of State Center by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for State Center. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of State Center by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in State Center. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for State Center.

    Description

    The dataset used in this work is composed by four participants, two men and two women. Each of them carried the wearable device Empatica E4 for a total number of 15 days. They carried the wearable during the day, and during the nights we asked participants to charge and load the data into an external memory unit. During these days, participants were asked to answer EMA questionnaires which are used to label our data. However, some participants could not complete the full experiment or some days were discarded due to data corruption. Specific demographic information, total sampling days and total number of EMA answers can be found in table I.

    This dataset provides three different type of labels. Activeness and happiness are two of these labels. These are the answers to EMA questionnaires that participants reported during their daily activities. These labels are numbers between 0 and 4.
    These labels are used to interpolate the mental well-being state according to [1] We report in our dataset a total number of eight emotional states: (1) pleasure, (2) excitement, (3) arousal, (4) distress, (5) misery, (6) depression, (7) sleepiness, and (8) contentment.

    The data we provide in this repository consist of two type of files:

    • CSV files: These files contain physiological signals recorded during the data collection process. The first line of each CSV file defines the timestamp by which data started being sampled. The second line defines the sampling frequency used for gathering the signal. From the third line until the end of the file, one can find sampled datapoints.
    • Excel files: These files contain the labels obtained from EMA answers. It is indicated the timestamp at which the answer was registered. Labels for pleasure, activeness and mood can be found in this file.

    NOTE: Files are numbered according to each specific sampling day. For example, ACC1.csv corresponds to the signal ACC for sampling day 1. The same applied to excel files.
