The Australian Census Longitudinal Dataset (ACLD) brings together a 5% sample from the 2006 Census with records from the 2011 Census to create a research tool for exploring how Australian society is changing over time. In taking a longitudinal view of Australians, the ACLD may uncover new insights into the dynamics and transitions that drive social and economic change over time, conveying how these vary for diverse population groups and geographies. It is envisaged that the 2016 and successive Censuses will be added in the future, as well as administrative data sets. The ACLD is released in ABS TableBuilder and as a microdata product in the ABS Data Laboratory.

The Census of Population and Housing is conducted every five years and aims to measure accurately the number of people and dwellings in Australia on Census Night.

Microdata products are the most detailed information available from a Census or survey and are generally the responses to individual questions on the questionnaire. They also include derived data from answers to two or more questions and are released with the approval of the Australian Statistician. The following microdata products are available for this longitudinal dataset: •ACLD in TableBuilder - an online tool for creating tables and graphs. •ACLD in ABS Data Laboratory (ABSDL) - for in-depth analysis using a range of statistical software packages.

This report provides a comprehensive analysis of Pasifika communities in Australia based on the 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census. The Australian Pasifika Educators Network (APEN) define 'Pasifika' as peoples and communities, who are genealogically, spiritually, and culturally connected to the lands, the skies and seas of the Pasifika region (including Aotearoa, New Zealand), and who have chosen to settle in and call Australia home. This analysis seeks to track key trends that have emerged since the 2015 Pacific Communities report published by Professor Jioji Ravulo based on the 2011 Census. In accordance with the intent of the original report, this current version seeks to provide an understanding of the current demographic, and socioeconomic experiences of Pasifika communities with a particular focus on education. This analysis covers population, education levels, employment patterns, as well as family and household characteristics to not only shed light on the unique circumstances faced by Pasifika communities, but also track key trends over the last decade. In addition, an examination of the Western Sydney region has been included, highlighting the significance of place-based insights on Pasifika communities towards informing policy responses and initiatives. Dataset: OVERVIEW This report compiles data from the 2021 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). This document provides the second iteration on the human geography of Pasifika peoples within an Australian context,10 aimed at gathering greater insight into Pasifika communities, as well as comparing and tracing key trends through various datapoints. In addition, this report provides a spotlight on Pasifika communities in Western Sydney, where nearly 20% of the nation’s Pasifika population currently resides.

This dataset presents information from the 2021 Census. It contains characteristics of persons, families, and dwellings by customised Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Commonwealth Electoral Divisions (CED). It can be used as a tool for researching, planning, and analysis. The variables included in this dataset are reported based on place of usual residence or place of enumeration, check field description for guidance.

The customised CED boundaries and statistical data in this dataset incorporates the AEC's 4 March 2025 Northern Territory federal redistribution determination. It specifically includes redistribution changes for the divisions of Lingiari and Solomon. Changes for the Northern Territory will be included in the official ASGS Edition 3 CED boundary update released in July 2025. Recent federal electoral redistributions for New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia are included in these boundaries and have been previously released in ASGS CED updates.

Please note Commonwealth Electoral Divisions are an ABS Mesh Block approximation of Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) federal electoral divisions.

Small random adjustments have been made to all cell values to protect the confidentiality of respondents. From December 2022, the "DSS Expanded Benefit and Payment Recipient Demographics – quarterly data" publication has introduced expanded reporting populations for income support recipients. As a result, the reporting population for Jobseeker Payment and Special Benefit has changed to include recipients who are current but on zero rate of payment and those who are suspended from payment. The reporting population for ABSTUDY, Austudy, Parenting Payment and Youth Allowance has changed to include those who are suspended from payment. The expanded report will replace the standard report after June 2023.

Additional data for DSS Expanded Benefit and Payment Recipient Demographics – quarterly data includes:

• A new contents page to assist users locate the information within the spreadsheet

• Additional data for the ‘Suspended’ population in the ‘Payment by Rate’ tab to enable users to calculate the old reporting rules.

• Additional information on the Employment Earning by ‘Income Free Area’ tab.

From December 2022, Services Australia have implemented a change in the Centrelink payment system to recognise gender other than the sex assigned at birth or during infancy, or as a gender which is not exclusively male or female. To protect the privacy of individuals and comply with confidentialisation policy, persons identifying as ‘non-binary’ will initially be grouped with ‘females’ in the period immediately following implementation of this change. The Department will monitor the implications of this change and will publish the ‘non-binary’ gender category as soon as privacy and confidentialisation considerations allow.

Local Government Area has been updated to reflect the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2022 boundaries from June 2023.

Commonwealth Electorate Division has been updated to reflect the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2021 boundaries from June 2023.

SA2 has been updated to reflect the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2021 boundaries from June 2023.

From December 2021, the following are included in the report:

• selected payments by work capacity, by various demographic breakdowns

• rental type and homeownership

• Family Tax Benefit recipients and children by payment type

• Commonwealth Rent Assistance by proportion eligible for the maximum rate

• an age breakdown for Age Pension recipients

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Community Profile provides demographic and economic analysis for the Council area and its suburbs based on results from the 2016, 2011, 2006, 2001, 1996 and 1991 Censuses of Population and Housing. The profile is updated with population estimates when the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) releases new figures. This is an interactive query tool where results can be downloaded in various formats. Three reporting types are available from this resource: 1. Social atlas that delivers the data displayed on a map showing each SA1 area (approx 200 households), 2. Community Profile which delivers data at a District level which contain 2 to 3 suburbs, and 3. Economic Profile which reports statistics of an economic indicators. The general community profile/social atlas themes available for reporting on are: -Age -Education -Ethnicity -Disability -Employment/Income -Household types -Indigenous profile -Migration -Journey to work -Disadvantage -Population Estimates -Building approvals. Local Government Areas (LGA)

Local Government Areas (LGAs) represent local government boundaries that are defined by each State and Territory. LGAs are useful for understanding the characteristics of an individual local council area at a point in time.

LGAs are also known as Incorporated areas where incorporated local governing bodies have responsibilities (e.g. your local council). Not all areas of Australia are incorporated areas for example, northern parts of South Australia, all of the Australian Capital Territory and some Other Territories. These regions are defined as ‘Unincorporated’ in the ABS LGA structure.

LGAs are built from Mesh Blocks.

Annual reviews of LGAs are conducted and new boundaries are released if changes are identified. For information on these changes see ASGS Edition 3 – LGAs, history of changes. In TableBuilder, LGA boundaries will be updated if there have been changes. There were minor 2023 changes, however, as there were no changes to source boundaries that resulted in a Mesh Block changing allocation, a 2023 LGA variable will not be added in Census TableBuilder datasets.

The 1991 Census Usual Residents Community Profiles present 25 tables containing summary characteristics of usual residents for Local Government Areas (LGA) in Australia. This table contains data relating to selected characteristics of persons. Counts are of all persons, based on their usual place of residence; excludes Australians overseas; and excludes adjustment for under-enumeration. The data is by LGA 1991 boundaries. Periodicity: 5-Yearly. This data is ABS data (cat. no. 2101.0 & original geographic boundary cat. no. 1261.0.30.001) used with permission from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The tabular data was processed and supplied to AURIN by the Australian Data Archives. The cleaned, high resolution 1991 geographic boundaries are available from data.gov.au.
