    About this dataset

    This dataset contains a comprehensive collection of health indicators for Sri Lanka from the World Health Organization's data portal, covering an array of topics related to mortality and global health estimates, sustainable development goals, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), health systems and financing, public health and environment, substance use and mental health, tobacco control initiatives, infectious diseases control measures – including HIV/AIDS – as well as mental and sexual reproductive health. Moreover, this dataset further contains indicators related to the service organization and delivery of treatment capacity and treatment coverage in Sri Lanka. All necessary links for individual indicator metadata are included in the resource descriptions.

    It is important to note that data in this dataset is best viewed as statistical estimates meant to inform decision makers on current trends in public health initiatives. Nevertheless it is essential that due caution be taken when using them due to their potential limitations such as geographical imprecision or outdatedness derived from when they were last updated.     This dataset, released August 2017, contains the top ten birthplaces of people born in non-English speaking countries, 2016. The data comprise residents of Australia who were born overseas in one of the predominantly non-English speaking countries which are in the top ten for Australia in terms of high numbers of migrants. These are, from highest to lowest: China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Italy, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Germany, Republic of Korea (South), and Greece. The data is by Local Government Area (LGA) 2016 geographic boundaries. For more information please see the data source notes on the data.
