A similar dataset called Hospital General Information was previously uploaded to Kaggle. However, that dataset only includes data from one year (2017). I was inspired by this dataset to go a little further and try to add a time dimension. This dataset includes a union of Hospital General Information for the years 2016-2020. TwitterWe compared performance, operating characteristics, and market environments of low- and high-efficiency hospitals in the 37 states that supplied data to the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project from 2006 to 2010. Hospital cost-inefficiency estimates using stochastic frontier analysis were generated. Hospitals were then grouped into the 100 most- and 100 least-efficient hospitals for subsequent analysis. Compared with the least efficient hospitals, high-efficiency hospitals tended to have lower average costs, higher labor productivity, and higher profit margins. The most efficient hospitals tended to be nonteaching, investor-owned, and members of multihospital systems. Hospitals in the high-efficiency group were located in areas with lower health maintenance organization penetration and less competition, and they had a higher share of Medicaid and Medicare admissions. Trend data that can be deciphered, for instance if there are any indications that patients are more likely to become members of rehab populations rather than hospitals. And, if coupled with current data on patients admitted into hospitals, if there are any correlations that would imply that patients are choosing home healthcare or tele-medicine alternatives.

There are very few hospitals that do not accept publicly insured patients, so this is quite a comprehensive list.
This file contains general information about all hospitals that have been registered with Medicare, including their addresses, type of hospital, and ownership structure. It also contains information about the quality of each hospital, in the form of an overall rating (1-5, where 5 is the best possible rating & 1 is the worst), and whether the hospital scored above, same as, or below the national average for a variety of measures.
This data was updated by CMS on July 25, 2017. CMS' overall rating includes 60 of the 100 measures for which data is collected & reported on Hospital Compare website (https://www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare/search.html). Each of the measures have different collection/reporting dates, so it is impossible to specify exactly which time period this dataset covers. There are some 5.3 million persons employed in U.S. hospitals in full-time. Contrary to the decrease in the number of hospitals, employment has been increasing steadily. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. hospitals generate a total gross output of around 1,075 billion U.S. dollars. The largest portion of U.S. hospitals are non-profit facilities. A smaller share includes private-owned for-profit hospitals. In most cases, these hospitals are part of hospital chains. For-profit hospitals developed especially in the 1990s, with the aim to gain profit for their shareholders. The Hospital Corporation of America, based in Nashville, Tennessee, is the U.S. for-profit hospital operator with the highest number of hospitals.
