    Description

    The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk; classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the UTM projection and coordinate system. The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.

    The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation. Block Groups (BGs) are clusters of blocks within the same census tract. Each census tract contains at least one BG, and BGs are uniquely numbered within census tracts. BGs have a valid code range of 0 through 9. BGs have the same first digit of their 4-digit census block number from the same decennial census. For example, tabulation blocks numbered 3001, 3002, 3003,.., 3999 within census tract 1210.02 are also within BG 3 within that census tract. BGs coded 0 are intended to only include water area, no land area, and they are generally in territorial seas, coastal water, and Great Lakes water areas. Block groups generally contain between 600 and 3,000 people. A BG usually covers a contiguous area but never crosses county or census tract boundaries. They may, however, cross the boundaries of other geographic entities like county subdivisions, places, urban areas, voting districts, congressional districts, and American Indian / Alaska Native / Native Hawaiian areas. The BG boundaries in this release are those that were delineated as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2020 Census.

    Wisconsin municipal ward data collected in January 2025 by LTSB that was dissolved into municipal boundaries (cities, towns, and villages). [Attribute Definitions]. This data has been collected in regards to state statute 15(4)(br)1. County clerks will transmit municipal, municipal ward, and county supervisory districts in GIS format to LTSB by January 15th and July 15th* per statute 5.15(4)(br)1: "...no later than January 15 and July 15 of each year*, the county clerk shall transmit to the Legislative Technology Services Bureau a report confirming the boundaries of each municipality, ward, and supervisory district in the county together with a map of the county, in an electronic format approved by the Legislative Technology Services Bureau. Each report shall be current to the nearest January 1 or July 1* preceding the date of the report”. (*with the exception of years ending in “01” where data collection will align closer to typical redistricting timelines of March and October 15)Municipal clerks need to notify the county clerk within 5 days of any boundary change per statute 5.15(4)(b): "Within 5 days after adoption or enactment of an ordinance or resolution under this section or any amendment thereto, the municipal clerk shall transmit one copy of the ordinance or resolution or the amendment to the county clerk of each county in which the municipality is contained, accompanied by the list and map specified in par. The primary source of the linework in this Index is a WI County Boundaries data layer derived from 1:24,000- scale sources. Elevation units are in feet. This service was last updated May 2023. Fatal crashes are included from 2001. Crashes are updated on a nightly basis using geo-coded locations from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation DT4000 police crash report. The Community Maps system was designed to support and enhance traffic safety planning, resource allocation, and decision support at the local level, in particular through the regular review of crashes at each of the county quarterly TSC meetings.

    Community Maps is hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison by the Wisconsin Traffic Operations and Safety (TOPS) Laboratory in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Bureau of Transportation Safety (BOTS).

    Description

    This dataset includes boundaries for all school district boundaries within the state of Wisconsin. By law, all territory in the state must be included within a public school district. The US Census Bureau identifies three types of school districts. Unified school districts serve children of all grade levels, Elementary primarily serve students in the elementary grades, and Secondary primarily serve children in grades 9-12. Out of 421 school districts in Wisconsin, 43 are considered elementary districts, 10 are secondary districts, and 368 are unified districts. Elementary and secondary school districts overlap. This layer is an aggregate of county-submitted data for school district boundaries. Each year, there is a chance for reorganizations to take place that either transfer territory between school districts or consolidate/dissolve/create districts. These reorganizations go into effect on July 1st of each year. In 2025, there were thirteen (13) reorganizations that involved unified school districts. There weren't any reorganizations involving secondary and elementary districts. The reorganizations took place in Calumet, Dane, Dunn, La Crosse, Ozaukee, St. Croix, Sauk, and Sheboygan counties. Transfers of territory took place between the following pairs of districts: River Valley and Sauk Prairie, Plymouth and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Eau Claire Area and Elk Mound Area, Holman and Onalaska, Verona Area and Madison Metropolitan, River Falls and Hudson, Durand-Arkansaw and Eau Claire Area, Chilton and Stockbridge, and Grafton and Cedarburg. Please refer to the property transfer log for more information.This is not an official authoritative statewide dataset for school district boundaries nor does one exist for Wisconsin. These boundaries are updated annually around July 1 to reflect boundary changes from the reorganization process and as needed throughout the rest of the year.

    Description

    This layer consists of a 1:250,000-scale polygon coverage containing depth-to-bedrock estimates used in preparing the GCSM for Wisconsin. The primary source for this data layer is a 1973 map at 1:1,000,000 scale published by the WGNHS and USGS. Where more recent information was available, the USGS updated the 50-foot and 100-foot contours of the depth-to-bedrock map at a scale of 1:250,000.     Description

    Wisconsin Act 20, the biennial state budget for 2013-2015, created statutory directives for state and local governments to coordinate on the development of a statewide digital parcel map. The Statewide Parcel Map Initiative is an effort to create a digital parcel map for Wisconsin by aggregating local parcel datasets utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) technology. The Parcel Initiative is a multi-faceted, multi-year collaborative effort of the Department of Administration, State Cartographer's Office, and local governments.
