    Description

By the end of the century, around 188 natural world heritage sites will be at risk of heat, drought, or extreme rainfall under an intermediate emissions scenario (SSP2-4.5), which results in around 2.7 degrees Celsius of warming. This represents 70 percent of all natural world heritage sites registered by UNESCO. In a more optimistic scenario of low emissions (SSP1-2.6), which will maintain global temperatures below two degrees Celsius, the number of sites at risk could be reduced to only 33 sites.

    Description

This publication summarises the number and type of fly-tipping incidents and the enforcement actions taken against fly tipping in England.

Local authority fly-tipping enforcement league tables are no longer being produced and published as part of this release. However, the underlying data on which these league tables were based, continue to be published.

Fly-tipping is the illegal deposit of waste on land contrary to Section 33(1)(a) of the http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1990/43/contents" class="govuk-link">Environmental Protection Act 1990. The types of waste fly-tipped range from ‘black bag’ waste to large deposits of materials such as industrial waste, tyres, construction material and liquid waste. Fly-tipping is a significant blight on local environments; a source of pollution; a potential danger to public health and hazard to wildlife. It also undermines legitimate waste businesses where unscrupulous operators undercut those operating within the law.

Local councils and the Environment Agency (EA) both have a responsibility in respect of illegally deposited waste. Local councils deal with most cases of fly tipping on public land, whilst the EA investigates and enforces against the larger, more serious and organised illegal waste crimes.

The associated data is available in CSV format and can be found here: https://www.data.gov.uk/dataset/1388104c-3599-4cd2-abb5-ca8ddeeb4c9c/fly-tipping-in-england" class="govuk-link">Fly-tipping in England - data.gov.uk

    Description

The shark control program (SCP) relies on nets or drumlines, or a combination of both, to minimise the threat of shark attack on humans in particular locations. Following is information on numbers and locations of sharks that have been caught by the SCP.

It is important to reduce the inadvertent impacts of the SCP on other marine animals (bycatch) without compromising human safety. Bycatch levels are carefully monitored and research is focused on minimising impacts on non-target species.
