    Description

    A complete, historic universe of Cook County parcels with attached geographic, governmental, and spatial data.

    When working with Parcel Index Numbers (PINs) make sure to zero-pad them to 14 digits. Some datasets may lose leading zeros for PINs when downloaded.

    Additional notes:

    • Non-taxing district data is attached via spatial join (st_contains) to each parcel's centroid.
    • Tax district data (school district, park district, municipality, etc.) are attached by a parcel's assigned tax code.
    • Centroids are based on Cook County parcel shapefiles.
    • Older properties may be missing coordinates and thus also missing attached spatial data (usually they are missing a parcel boundary in the shapefile).
    • Newer properties may be missing a mailing or property address, as they need to be assigned one by the postal service.
    • This dataset contains data for the current tax year, which may not yet be complete or final. Assessed values for any given year are subject to change until review and certification of values by the Cook County Board of Review, though there are a few rare circumstances where values may change for the current or past years after that.
    • Rowcount for a given year is final once the Assessor has certified the assessment roll all townships.
    • Data will be updated monthly.
    • Depending on the time of year, some third-party and internal data will be missing for the most recent year. Assessments mailed this year represent values from last year, so this isn't an issue. By the time the Data Department models values for this year, those data will have populated.
    • Current property class codes, their levels of assessment, and descriptions can be found on the Assessor's website. Note that class codes details can change across time.
    • Due to discrepancies between the systems used by the Assessor and Clerk's offices, tax_district_code is not currently up-to-date in this table.

    The statewide composite of parcels (cadastral) data for New Jersey was developed during the Parcels Normalization Project in 2008-2014 by the NJ Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (NJOGIS.) The normalized parcels data are compatible with the NJ Department of the Treasury system currently used by Tax Assessors, and those records have been joined in this dataset. This composite of parcels data serves as one of the framework GIS datasets for New Jersey. Stewardship and maintenance of the data will continue to be the purview of county and municipal governments, but the statewide composite will be maintained by NJOGIS.Parcel attributes were normalized to a standard structure, specified in the NJ GIS Parcel Mapping Standard, to store parcel information and provide a PIN (parcel identification number) field that can be used to match records with suitably-processed property tax data. The standard is available for viewing and download at https://njgin.state.nj.us/oit/gis/NJ_NJGINExplorer/docs/NJGIS_ParcelMappingStandardv3.2.pdf. The PIN also can be constructed from attributes available in the MOD-IV Tax List Search table (see below).This feature class includes a large number of additional attributes from matched MOD-IV records; however, not all MOD-IV records match to a parcel, for reasons explained elsewhere in this metadata record. The statewide property tax table, including all MOD-IV records, is available as a separate download "MOD-IV Tax List Search Plus Database of New Jersey." Users who need only the parcel boundaries with limited attributes may obtain those from a separate download "Parcels Composite of New Jersey".     Description

    This parcel lines feature class represents the current city parcel lines within the City of Los Angeles. It shares topology with the Landbase Parcel_polygons feature class. The Mapping and Land Records Division of the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works provides the most current geographic information of the public right of way, ownership and land record information. The legal boundaries are determined on the ground by license surveyors in the State of California, and by recorded documents from the Los Angeles County Recorder's office and the City Clerk's office of the City of Los Angeles. Parcel and ownership information are available on NavigateLA, a website hosted by the Bureau of Engineering, Department of Public Works.Associated information about the landbase parcel lines is entered into attributes. Principal attributes include:CV_LAYER: is the principal field that describes the various types of lines like street and freeway right-of-ways, tract, lots, government property and easements lines, private street lines, utility right-of-ways, and ownership lines. For a complete list of attribute values, please refer to Landbase_parcel_lines_data_dictionary.Landbase parcels lines layer was created in geographical information systems (GIS) software to display the location of parcel lots. The parcels lines layer is a feature class in the LACityLandbaseData.gdb Geodatabase dataset. The layer consists of spatial data as a line feature class and attribute data for the features. The lines are derived from the polygon feature class in the landbase parcels layer, and information about the lines is entered into attributes. The CV_LAYER field values describe the various types of lines. The right-of-way, row, line features consist of CV_LAYER = 6, CV_LAYER = 106, and portions of CV_LAYER = 1 where that line is both the city boundary and the parcel line. In some cases, a parcel line will share two different type descriptions. Refer to CV_LAYER field metadata for further explantion. Parcel information should only be added to the Landbase Parcels layer if documentation exists, such as a Deed or a Plan approved by the City Council. When seeking the definitive description of real property, consult the recorded Deed or Plan.List of Fields:ASSETIDCV_LAYER: This value is a number representing a different type of user-assigned layer. Each of the line segments in the landbase parcels lines are assigned one of the CV_LAYER numbers, representing a different type of line work, described below. In some cases, a parcel line will share two different type descriptions. Such as, a parcel line may have CV_LAYER = 1 City Boundary line, and it is a CV_LAYER = 8 Tract line. The Tract line description is used first, and the City Boundary line description is used second. When selecting City Boundary line using CV_LAYER = 1, then (special way to select data...). The right-of-way, row, line features consist of CV_LAYER = 6, CV_LAYER = 106, and portions of CV_LAYER = 1 where that line is both the city boundary and the parcel line. Values: • 50 - Lot cut linework. • 38 - Freeway ease as easement lines. • 108 - Tract lines that are private street lines. • 8 - Tract lines, Rancho lines, Freeway (Fwy), and Right of way lines. • 30 - Former city boundary lines; other city or county boundary line. • 34 - Overlap lines. • 6 - Right of way (R/W) sidelines. • 19 - LA City easement lines. • 21 - All governmental lines (Fee). • 37 - APN (BPP) lines shown on tax assessors map (PCL maps); but no new PIN is created for the parcels polygon feature. • 48 - Subdivision title anno shown for ownership purpose (lot cut). • 10 - Lot lines. • 68 - SBBM (San Bernardino Base Meridian) section lines. • 1 - Boundary lines (existing). • 110 - Lot lines that are private street lines. • 18 - All governmental easement lines (except LA City and State freeway ease right of way lines). • 106 - Fwy traveled roadway lines; Dash right of way lines; Railroad and transmission lines. • 0 - Cadastral format.SHAPE: Feature geometry.OBJECTID: Internal feature number.ID: A unique numeric identifier of the polygon. The ID value is the last part of the PIN field value.MAPSHEET: The alpha-numeric mapsheet number, which refers to a valid B-map or A-map number on the Cadastral tract index map. Values: • B, A, -5A - Any of these alpha-numeric combinations are used, whereas the underlined spaces are the numbers.

    Description

    This data was generated to help promote solar installations that provide economic and environmental benefits. Landfills are well-suited for the development of large solar generation projects. Large-scale solar development can offset the costs to cap or remediate these sites and should be encouraged. Other innovative, large-scale solar installations are on the horizon and should be considered in addition to, not in lieu of, smaller-scale, grid-connected applications. This layer contains available New Jersey statewide parcels or parcel groups greater than 35 acres in size selected by their affiliation with solid waste landfill sites. This data will provide basic information regarding property location and ID for parcels, or groups of parcels based upon the above critieria. Important information concerning parcel data in New Jersey: The feature class retains the selected attributes from the updated statewide Municipality boundary data and selected attributes from MODIV tabular information received from the counties. This combined layer gives users the ability to have not only basic block and lot data from the parcels, but county and municipality identifiers from the Municipality layer and block/lot ownership data from the MODIV. Please note that attempts will be made to keep the data current, but users should be made aware that more updated information may reside directly with the counties. Any question as to the currentness of the data should be confirmed with the associated county entity. The statewide composite of parcels (cadastral) data for New Jersey was developed during a Parcels Normalization Project in 2009 by the New Jersey Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (OGIS). The normalized parcels data are compatible with the New Jersey Department of Treasury Property Assessment Management System (PAMS) in development, and the MOD IV system currently used by Tax Assessors. Parcels data in New Jersey currently exist countywide for 19 of 21 counties, and for 8 additional municipalities. This (nearly) statewide composite of parcels data will serve as one of New Jersey's framework GIS data sets. Stewardship and maintenance of the data will continue to be the purview of county and municipal governments, but the statewide composite will be maintained by OGIS. Normalization of the parcels data utilized 2008 statewide municipal boundaries data, provided by OGIS, as the spatial framework within which to align the parcel data. The resulting, normalized parcels data accurately and correctly edgematch at and across municipal boundaries. Improvements to the municipal boundaries data were made during this process. New municipal, county and state boundaries data sets will be released by OGIS once all parcels data have been normalized. Parcel attributes were normalized to a standard structure, specified in the New Jersey GIS Parcel Mapping Standard, to store parcel information and provide a PIN (parcel identification number) field common to the PIN stored in the PAMS database. The standard is available for viewing and download at https://njgin.nj.gov/NJParcelStandards/NJGISParcelMappingStandard.pdf. When complete, 19 countywide and 8 municipal parcel data sets will be available for download from the New Jersey Geographic Information Network (NJGIN) web site download page at https://njgin.state.nj.us/NJ_NJGINExplorer/DataDownloads.jsp. Please note that these parcel data sets are not intended for use as tax maps. They are intended to provide reasonable representations of parcel boundaries for planning and other purposes.

Description

A complete, historic universe of Cook County parcels with attached geographic, governmental, and spatial data.

When working with Parcel Index Numbers (PINs) make sure to zero-pad them to 14 digits. Some datasets may lose leading zeros for PINs when downloaded.

Additional notes:

  • Non-taxing district data is attached via spatial join (st_contains) to each parcel's centroid.
  • Tax district data (school district, park district, municipality, etc.) are attached by a parcel's assigned tax code.
  • Centroids are based on Cook County parcel shapefiles.
  • Older properties may be missing coordinates and thus also missing attached spatial data (usually they are missing a parcel boundary in the shapefile).
  • Newer properties may be missing a mailing or property address, as they need to be assigned one by the postal service.
  • This dataset contains data for the current tax year, which may not yet be complete or final. Assessed values for any given year are subject to change until review and certification of values by the Cook County Board of Review, though there are a few rare circumstances where values may change for the current or past years after that.
  • Rowcount for a given year is final once the Assessor has certified the assessment roll all townships.
  • Data will be updated monthly.
  • Depending on the time of year, some third-party and internal data will be missing for the most recent year. Assessments mailed this year represent values from last year, so this isn't an issue. By the time the Data Department models values for this year, those data will have populated.
  • Current property class codes, their levels of assessment, and descriptions can be found on the Assessor's website. Note that class codes details can change across time.
  • Due to discrepancies between the systems used by the Assessor and Clerk's offices, tax_district_code is not currently up-to-date in this table.
