This dataset shows schools in the form of their parcels within the WMPO's planning area. WMPO's planning area includes all of New Hanover County along with portions of Brunswick County and Pender County. The schools highlighted in this data are public, private, charter, and university/community colleges. Child development and daycare centers are not included. The data was derived from imagery and parcels.
This dataset shows the designated trail facilities within the WMPO's planning jurisdiction.
The crosswalk facilities in this datasets were largely derived from high resolution imagery and datasets provided by member jurisdictions where available.
All parks within the WMPO's planning jurisdiction as points.
These data were automated to provide an accurate high-resolution historical shoreline of Cape Fear River and Wilmington Beach, NC suitable as a geographic information system (GIS) data layer. These data are derived from shoreline maps that were produced by the NOAA National Ocean Service including its predecessor agencies which were based on an office interpretation of imagery and/or field survey. The NGS attribution scheme 'Coastal Cartographic Object Attribute Source Table (C-COAST)' was developed to conform the attribution of various sources of shoreline data into one attribution catalog. C-COAST is not a recognized standard, but was influenced by the International Hydrographic Organization's S-57 Object-Attribute standard so the data would be more accurately translated into S-57. This dataset contains updated stop identification numbers.
This map shows all approved TIAs and their associated approval forms. Used with WMPO TIA Webapp. Last Updated 5/21/2019The Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WMPO) has made every reasonable effort to ensure quality and accuracy in producing this map or data set. Nevertheless, the user should be aware that the information on which it is based may have come from a variety of sources, which are of varying degrees of map accuracy. Therefore, WMPO cannot guarantee the accuracy of this map or data set, and does not accept any responsibility for the consequences of its use.
This sediment database contains location, description, and texture of samples taken by numerous marine sampling programs. Most of the samples are from the Atlantic Continental Margin of the United States, but some are from as diverse locations as Lake Baikal, Russia, the Hawaiian Islands region, Puerto Rico, the Gulf of Mexico, and Lake Michigan. The database presently contains data for over 27,000 samples, which includes texture data for approximately 3800 samples taken or analyzed by the Atlantic Continental Margin Program (ACMP), a joint U.S. Geological Survey/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution project conducted from 1962 to 1970. As part of the ACMP, some historical data from samples collected between 1955 and 1962 were also incorporated into the dataset.
All parks within the WMPO Boundary.
This feature layer contains the Wave fixed routes for the Wilmington, NC area as of 2022 system updates.
This dataset contains point features for use in geographic information systems that represent the supporting infrastructure that is used by the rail industry to conduct ongoing rail operations. These include designated areas for aggregating rail stock, shipping facilities, regulatory signage and signals, and other facilities necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the rail industry.
This dataset contains multi-use paths within the WMPO's planning jurisdiction. Multi-use paths refer to facilities that can use utilized by both pedestrians and bicyclists.Features are depicted as they are on the ground, so facilities are shown on 1 side of the road, or both sides of the road, if applicable.
The dataset provided includes line data for use in geographic information systems that represents all of the standard gauge freight and passenger railroad track in North Carolina, and contains the following information: owner, operator, track type, branch, beginning milepost, ending milepost, in service status, and out of service date (where applicable). The linework was digitized based on the most recent statewide aerial photography provided by the State of North Carolina.Select areas of inactive track have been added to the dataset to aid in preserved and future corridor analysis.
This dataset contains the zones of service for Wave Transit's RideMICRO system.
Line geographies with the following fields:- Route_Name: Identifies the route number
An arc layer for visual representation of statewide road centerlines on publicly-accessible roads segmented by a subset of road characteristics for the state road system. The state road system is comprised of Interstate, US, NC, Secondary Routes, and Ramps. Each arc/record is split where road characteristics change along a route. This dataset supports the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) data requirements for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS). HPMS is a national level highway information system that includes data on the extent, condition, performance, use, and operating characteristics of the Nation's highways. States are required to submit an HPMS report to FHWA annually. This dataset also contains projected routes, generalized locations of routes that will become part of the National Highway System (NHS) when they are built. The non-system roads are consumed and conflated from authoritative sources, including local (i.e. county), state (i.e. parks) and federal (i.e. Forest Service) entities. Data quality is tracked using the revision document fields (GeoDocType and GeoDocId). Legacy data are coded as not verified in the GeoDocType field. The geometry and spatial location of new data is verified with the most current information available (i.e aerial imagery).

The sidewalks facilities in this datasets were largely derived from high resolution imagery and datasets provided by member jurisdictions where available.
The dataset provided includes point data for use in GIS that represents public crossings in the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WMPO). Only open and inactive crossings are included; closed crossings have been omitted. Attributes for each crossing inculde the crossing's FRA identification number and the latitude and longitude of the crossing. Crossing location and status were verfied by cross-referencing Federal Railroad Administration public crossing database with North Carolina Department of Transportation Rail Division's crossing database, railroad company track charts and aerial imagery. Where in doubt, crossing status has been investigated by contacting the rail company, land owner, or municipalilty within whose jurisdiction the crossing falls. The attributes are derived directly from NCDOT's State Authoritative Rail and Highway (SARAH) database.
This dataset shows the bike facilities within the WMPO's planning jurisdiction. The data was initially derived from heads up digitizing from the 2012 aerial photography and an existing color bike map, with updates due to new development as they occur. This dataset is updated quarterly. Features are depicted as they are on the ground, so bike facilities are shown on 1 side of the road, or both sides of the road, if applicable.
