The City of Winnipeg Diversity Dashboard data conform to Statistics Canada anonymization standards.

For anonymization - when there are fewer than 10 employees who self-declare belonging to an equity group (15 in the case of Persons with Disabilities), the exact percentage of individuals in that category is redacted for privacy and the "Too few to report" column flag is set to "TRUE".

The "Too few to report" column flag is also set to "TRUE" when data was not yet collected (e.g. for 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples before 2020).

The City of Winnipeg has updated its terminology through community consultation and is committed to refining it as needed. Because of this, our terminology in this open data set may change.

On our journey towards greater inclusion, the City of Winnipeg understands the importance of language and it will embrace new terminology as it evolves and is recommended and / or determined by the equity groups at the City.

    Description

The Manitoba Longitudinal Study of Young Adults (MLSYA) was a five-year longitudinal study conducted by Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba (LGA), formerly the Manitoba Gaming Control Commission (MGCC); the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba; and the former Manitoba Lotteries Corporation. The study followed a sample of Manitobans between the ages of 18 and 20 from 2007 and 2011. The aim of the study was to develop a better understanding of protective facts that promote responsible gambling and risk factors for gambling-related harms. In addition to gambling-specific data, the MLSYA study includes: Psychosocial indicators Demographic characteristics Measures of alcohol and drug use among participants The final sample for all waves of data included 516 participants. Participants were on average 18.9 years of age at recruitment and 22.2 years of age at study completion. LGA commissioned Prairie Research Associates Inc. to recruit participants and collect data for the MLSYA. While the sample is not truly random, it is reasonably representative of the Manitoba population, other than an overrepresentation of participants living in Winnipeg. Participants were recruited through various methods. This included random-digit dialing, onsite casino recruitment, and advertisements at post-secondary institutions and VLT lounges. At each subsequent wave, past participants were contacted and asked to take part in the next wave of the study. Wave 1 data was collected between November 2007 and October 2002. Wave 2 data was collected between December 2008 and December 2009. Wave 3 data was collected between May and December 2010. Wave 4 data was collected between May and December 2011. Additional information on sampling, retention, study variables, and survey questionnaires can be found in the accompanying summary report and codebook.

To better understand patterns of temporal and spatial variation of fish assemblages in offshore waters of Lake Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada), pelagic trawl tows were conducted at lakewide monitoring stations since 2002. Trawl samples collected during spring, summer, and fall from the south basin, channel, and north basin were used to study effects of season and geographic region within the lake on species biomass estimates.

    Description

RHAs/Health Regions are geographic areas which are used to define populations and catchment areas for the administration and delivery of health services. This file provides RHA boundaries for cartographic and analytical purposes. Within Manitoba there are five Regional Health Authorities (or "RHAs") responsible for the delivery of health services in five specific areas of the province described in the legislation as "health regions." (In practice, the terms "health region" and "RHA" are often used interchangeably to describe these geographic areas.). This file contains boundaries for the health regions for each Regional Health Authority in Manitoba. Fields included (Alias (Field Name): Field description.) RHA Code (RHACODE): Two-digit numeric code which uniquely identifies a specific legislatively defined RHA RHA Name (RHAName): This field contains a simple name for each RHA, suitable for use as a label, in English. Nom de l'office régionale de la santé (RHANomFr): This field contains a simple name for each RHA, suitable for use as a label, in French. RHA Area - total (sq km) (RHAArea): The calculated geodesic area, in square kilometres, of the area within a given RHA's boundaries. RHA Area - excludes major lakes (sq km) (LandArea): The calculated geodesic area, in square kilometres, of the area within a given RHA's boundaries, with the area of major lakes excluded. For population density calculations, we recommend the use of this area value. The following major lakes have been excluded: Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipegosis, and Cedar Lake.
