TwitterBackgroundQuantitative assessment of the risk of local transmission from imported dengue cases makes a great challenge to the development of public health in China. The purpose of this study is to observe the risk of mosquito-borne transmission in Xiamen City through ecological and insecticide resistance monitoring. Quantitative evaluation of mosquito insecticide resistance, community population and the number of imported cases affecting the transmission of dengue fever (DF) in Xiamen was carried out based on transmission dynamics model, so as to reveal the correlation between key risk factors and DF transmission.MethodsBased on the dynamics model and combined with the epidemiological characteristics of DF in Xiamen City, a transmission dynamics model was built to simulate the secondary cases caused by imported cases to evaluate the transmission risk of DF, and to explore the influence of mosquito insecticide resistance, community population and imported cases on the epidemic situation of DF in Xiamen City.ResultsFor the transmission model of DF, when the community population is between 10,000 and 25,000, changing the number of imported DF cases and the mortality rate of mosquitoes will have an impact on the spread of indigenous DF cases, however, changing the birth rate of mosquitoes did not gain more effect on the spread of local DF transmission.ConclusionsThrough the quantitative evaluation of the model, this study determined that the mosquito resistance index has an important influence on the local transmission of dengue fever caused by imported cases in Xiamen, and the Brayton index can also affect the local transmission of the disease.

BackgroundCervical cancer is primarily caused by HPV infection. The epidemiology of HPV infection in specific areas is of great meaning of guide cervical cancer screening and formulating HPV vaccination strategies. Here, we evaluated the epidemiological characteristics of HPV infection in Xiamen population.MethodsIn total, 159,049 cervical exfoliated cell samples collected from female outpatients in Women and Children’s Hospital, School of Medicine, Xiamen between January 2013 and July 2023 were analyzed. HPV DNA detection was performed using HPV genotyping kits (Hybribio Limited Corp, China). An analysis was conducted on the prevalence of HPV infection, taking into account factors such as age, year, and multiple patterns of HPV infection. The differences in prevalence among age groups and years were compared using χ2 test.ResultsThe overall prevalence of any 21 HPV genotypes was 18.4%, of which the high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) positive rate was 14.6%. The age-specific prevalence of HPV infection showed a bimodal distribution, with two distinct peaks, one at

Background & Aims: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a significant cause of liver function damage. However, previous studies on HBV mainly aimed at ordinary people, and there is a lack of consensus on the relationship between HBV infection and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and whether HBV-infected pregnant women should undergo antiviral treatment. In addition, systematic studies on the impact of HBV infection on GDM have rarely been studied directly. Therefore, the overall goal of this study was to pursue the association between HBV infection, liver function, and GDM using Xiamen area gestational big data. Methods: Using the Xiamen Primary Health Information System-maternal and child health information system, the data on participants (138,867 in total) expected confinement between 2008 and 2018 were included. Using univariate and multivariate logistic regressions, we constructed models to determine the role of HBV infection and liver function status in GDM. In addition, an analysis of variance tests was performed to study whether the relationship between HBsAg and GDM differed in the normal liver function and the abnormal liver function subgroups. Results: HBsAg's positive status showed a substantial correlation with GDM onset in univariate and multivariate logistic regressions (p < 0.001). Subgroup analysis among HBsAg, liver function, and GDM suggests that both HBsAg and liver function affect the onset of GDM and have the highest prevalence of both abnormalities. Furthermore, ANOVA was used to investigate the association of HBsAg positive (p < 0.001), abnormal liver function (p < 0.001), and their interaction (p = 0.302) on the onset of GDM. This result showed that HBsAg is an independent factor of GDM pathogenesis, regardless of liver function status. Conclusion: HBsAg and liver function are independent factors in GDM. Therefore, regarding these results, while clinicians consider the traditional risk factors of GDM, it is necessary to consider the HBV infection status. Conducting a dietary intervention for HBsAg-positive pregnant women at the early stage of pregnancy is conducive to reducing the adverse effects.

The In-Home Care & Other Household Services industry in China has not developed very well in the past few years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many services provided by the industry cannot be implemented, resulting in a decrease in industry revenue. Industry revenue is expected to decrease at an annualized rate of 4.7% over the five years through 2024 to $7.1 billion. The continuous growth of China's population and the trend of aging have led to a great demand for industries in society, and currently the industry has not formed a good supply-demand relationship.Industry profit is expected to total 3.7% of revenue in 2024. Total wages are expected to decrease by an annualized 3.8% over the five years through 2024 to $3.2 billion. The technological barriers in the industry are low, resulting in a large workforce and low profits. The industry is typically labor-intensive, with wages accounting for 45.8% of industry revenue in 2024. There are large number of small-size companies and self-employed practitioners in the industry. Industry concentration is very low. The largest company in the industry represents only 0.3% of industry revenue in 2024. Most participants operate in local markets only, and just a small number of franchise chain companies are able to cover multiple regions. The industry is forecast to continue growing strongly in the next five years, benefiting from Chinese residents' upgrading consumption, the third-child policies implemented in 2022, and as China becomes an aging society. Industry revenue is expected to increase an annualized 1.5% over the five years through 2029 to total $7.6 billion. Market shares are expected to increase towards franchise chain companies, which are encouraged by the Government. The industry's concentration level will rise, but still stay low. Customers will likely prefer high-end services, due to their increasing purchasing power. Furthermore, O2O platforms are projected to become a major channel for both consumers and industry practitioners in the industry.
