The 2022 York Region Business Directory contains just over 34,000 business listings. In the past, businesses were annually surveyed, either in person or by telephone to improve the accuracy of the directory. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, a survey was not complete in 2020 and 2021. The Region may return to annual surveying in future years, however the next employment survey will be in 2024. This listing also includes home-based businesses that participated in the 2022 employment survey. What is a NAIC code?The North American Industrial Classification (NAIC) coding system is a hierarchical classification system developed in Canada, Mexico and the United States. It was developed to allow for the comparison of business and employment information across a variety of industry categories.
