This dataset consists of data from the United States Postal Service (USPS). It entails all of the five digit zip codes in the 20-county metro Atlanta region which are assigned by USPS. The data is part of the administrative area layer, a group layer containing the various geographic divisions in Atlanta. It follows ESRI's Local Government Information Model. For more information about the local government model visit "What is the Local Government Information Model."Five Digit System: The first digit designates a geographic region. The second and third digits designate a concentrated population, e.g. city or town. The fourth and fifth digits designate local post offices or postal zones. Abstract

A crosswalk dataset matching US ZIP codes to corresponding county codes

    Documentation

The denominators used to calculate the address ratios are the ZIP code totals. When a ZIP is split by any of the other geographies, that ZIP code is duplicated in the crosswalk file.

**Example: **ZIP code 03870 is split by two different Census tracts, 33015066000 and 33015071000, which appear in the tract column. The ratio of residential addresses in the first ZIP-Tract record to the total number of residential addresses in the ZIP code is .0042 (.42%). The remaining residential addresses in that ZIP (99.58%) fall into the second ZIP-Tract record.

So, for example, if one wanted to allocate data from ZIP code 03870 to each Census tract located in that ZIP code, one would multiply the number of observations in the ZIP code by the residential ratio for each tract associated with that ZIP code.

https://redivis.com/fileUploads/4ecb405e-f533-4a5b-8286-11e56bb93368%3E" alt="">(Note that the sum of each ratio column for each distinct ZIP code may not always equal 1.00 (or 100%) due to rounding issues.)

    County definition

In the United States, a county is an administrative or political subdivision of a state that consists of a geographic region with specific boundaries and usually some level of governmental authority. The term "county" is used in 48 U.S. states, while Louisiana and Alaska have functionally equivalent subdivisions called parishes and boroughs, respectively.

    Description

U.S. ZIP Code Areas (Five-Digit) represents five-digit ZIP Code areas used by the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail more effectively. The first digit of a five-digit ZIP Code divides the United States into 10 large groups of states numbered from 0 in the Northeast to 9 in the far West. Within these areas, each state is divided into an average of 10 smaller geographical areas, identified by the second and third digits. These digits, in conjunction with the first digit, represent a sectional center facility or a mail processing facility area. The fourth and fifth digits identify a post office, station, branch or local delivery area.

List of United States Postal Service (USPS) Zone Improvement Plan (ZIP) Codes found within or partially within the borders of the City of Detroit.

Implemented in 1963, ZIP Codes were created by the USPS to improve the efficient delivery of mail. The first digit in the code designates a broad geographic area in the United States. The following two digits pinpoint population concentrations and sectional centers accessible to common transportation networks. The final two digits designate small Post Offices or postal zones. For more information on ZIP Codes, refer to The United States Postal Service: An American History.

ZIP Codes are one component of a mailing address and are not themselves suitable for mapping. For areal representations of City of Detroit ZIP Codes, please refer to our City of Detroit ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) dataset.

More information on the difference between ZIP Codes and ZCTAs can be found on the US Census Bureau's website.

    Description

Frontier and Remote Area (FAR) codes provide a statistically-based, nationally-consistent, and adjustable definition of territory in the U.S. characterized by low population density and high geographic remoteness.

To assist in providing policy-relevant information about conditions in sparsely settled, remote areas of the U.S. to public officials, researchers, and the general public, ERS has developed ZIP-code-level frontier and remote (FAR) area codes. The aim is not to provide a single definition. Instead, it is to meet the demand for a delineation that is both geographically detailed and adjustable within reasonable ranges, in order to be usefully applied in diverse research and policy contexts. This initial set, based on urban-rural data from the 2000 decennial census, provides four separate FAR definition levels, ranging from one that is relatively inclusive (18 million FAR residents) to one that is more restrictive (4.8 million FAR residents). This record was taken from the USDA Enterprise Data Inventory that feeds into the https://data.gov catalog. Data for this record includes the following resources: State and ZIP code level tables For complete information, please visit https://data.gov.

    Description

"This file provides digital data for all 1990 precensus map features, the associated 1990 census initial tabulation geographic area codes, such as 1990 census block numbers, and the codes for the Jan. 1, 1990 political areas on both sides of each line segment of every mapped feature. The data contain basic information on 1990 census geographic area codes, feature names, and address ranges in the form of ten ""Record Types."" The Census Bureau added four new record types in response to some us er and vendor requests to provide point and area information contained in the Census Bureau's Precensus Map sheets that is not contained in the Precensus TIGER/Line files. The record types include: Basic data records (individual Feature Segment Records), shape coordinate points (feature shape records), additional decennial census geographic area codes, index to alternate feature names, feature name list, additional address range and zip code data, landmark features, area landmarks, area boundaries, and polygon location. Each segment record contains appropriate decennial census and FIPS geographic area codes, latitude/longitude coordinates, the name of the feature (including the relevant census feature class code identifying the segment by category), and, for areas formerly covered by the GBF/DIME-Files, the address ranges and ZIP code associated with those address ranges for each side of street segments. For other areas, the TIGER?Line files do not contain address ranges or ZIP Codes. The shape records provide coordinate values that describe the shape of those feature segments that are not straight."

OVERVIEW In March 2019, Poverty Solutions released “AUTO INSURANCE AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY IN MICHIGAN: A CYCLE OF POVERTY”, a policy brief detailing the sources of Michigan’s highest-in-the-nation auto insurance rates and providing policy options for policymaker seeking to enact changes that would reduce overall rates and reduce rate disparities. The report pulled data from The Zebra, an auto insurance comparison marketplace, to show the distribution of rates by ZIP code and to calculate a cost burden for each ZIP code. DATAThe Zebra – provides ZIP code level data on average auto insurance rates from 2011-2017. The data represents an average of market prices facing a consistent base consumer profile. According to the Zebra, “Analysis used a consistent base profile for the insured driver: a 30-year-old single male driving a 2014 Honda Accord EX with a good driving history and coverage limits of $50,000 bodily injury liability per person/$100,000 bodily injury liability per accident/$50,000 property damage liability per accident with a $500 deductible for comprehensive and collision”.[1] For more information on The Zebra’s data collection methodology go to www.thezebra.com.Click here for metadata (descriptions of the fields).

Health regions are defined by the provinces and represent administrative areas or regions of interest to health authorities. This product contains correspondence files (linking health regions to census geographic codes) and digital boundary files. User documentation provides an overview of health regions, sources, methods, limitations and product description (file format and layout). In addition to the geographic files, this product also includes 2006 Census data (basic profile) for health regions. For current Health Regions data, refer to Statistics Canada.
