Within the coastal zone, this layer excludes a selection of districts (deferred certification areas and Marja) approved by the city as part of the General Plan Update but were not approved on August 12, 2016 by the California Coastal Commission. The Digital Geologic Map of Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Vicinity, New Mexico is composed of GIS data layers, two ancillary GIS tables, a Windows Help File with ancillary map text, figures and tables, GIS data layer and table FGDC metadata and ArcView 3.X legend (.AVL) files. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Evaluation (GRE) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GIS-Geology Coverage/Shapefile Data Model (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data is available as coverage and table export (.E00) files, and as a shapefile (.SHP) and DBASEIV (.DBF) table files. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 13N. That data is within the area of interest of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
This experience contains a public web application with a similar name. The application contains a map service that displays Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) data.The Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) data is derived from SANDAG’s Activity Based Model (ABM) database. This data was customized for the City of Carlsbad Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) Analysis Guidelines to include additional VMT above the standard SANDAG’s VMT output; refer the City of Carlsbad VMT Analysis Guidelines for additional information. The map provides an estimate of personal vehicle travel by residents and employees by Traffic Analysis Zone (TAZ) within the City of Carlsbad. It displays VMT per resident and VMT per employee compared to city-wide VMT average and regional VMT average, respectively.

The map was adopted on July 25, 2017. The adopted map was created through the collaboration of two residents who used the public map-drawing tools provided by the city's professional demographers. Maps were created based on the following criteria:1. Each council district shall contain a nearly equal population as required by law.2. Council district borders shall be drawn in a manner that complies with the Federal Voting Rights Act and avoids racial gerrymandering.3. Council districts shall consist of contiguous territory in as compact form as possible..4. Council districts shall respect "communities of interest" as much as possible (neighborhoods, school boundaries, common interests, etc.).5. Council district borders shall follow visible natural and man-made geographical and topographical features as much as possible.6. District borders shall be designed, insofar as this does not conflict with federal or state law, to respect the choices of the voters by avoiding the pairing of current Council members.The November 2018 mid-term elections resulted in representatives for Districts 1 and 3. Districst 2 and 4 currently have no representatives but will hold their first elections in 2020. City Council members serve four year terms.
