Animals with Attributes (AwA) was a dataset for benchmarking transfer-learning algorithms, in particular attribute base classification. It consisted of 30475 images of 50 animals classes with six pre-extracted feature representations for each image. The animals classes are aligned with Osherson's classical class/attribute matrix, thereby providing 85 numeric attribute values for each class. Using the shared attributes, it is possible to transfer information between different classes. The Animals with Attributes dataset was suspended. Its images are not available anymore because of copyright restrictions. A drop-in replacement, Animals with Attributes 2, is available instead.

The Safety of street animals is a critical issue as it highlights the importance of technology in human-animal interaction. This dataset highlights the significance of understanding and enhancing the safety of street animals through the lens of machine learning applications, particularly focusing on using night vision images to detect and identify these animals in urban environments. This study aims to contribute to developing innovative technologies that can improve the detection and monitoring of animals, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and enhancing their safety.
Here, contributors were asked to rate image quality (as opposed to how adorable the animals in the images actually are). They were given a five-point scale, from "unacceptable" (blurry photos of pets) to "exceptional" (hi-res photos that might appear in text books or magazines) and ranked a series of images based on that criteria.
Data set includes a URL for each image, an averaged score (of 1-5) for image quality, and a variance rating accounting for subjective, contributor disagreements.

Various species have been tracked using ARGOS PTT trackers since the early 1990's. These include Emperor, King and Adelie pengiuns, Light-mantled Sooty, Grey-headed and Black-browed albatrosses, Antarctic and Australian fur seals, Southern Elephant Seal and Blue and Humpback whales. Note that not all data for any species or locations is or will be exposed to OBIS. Geographic coverage is from Heard Island to the west and Macquarie Island to the east and several islands near the southern end of Chile. The data has been filtered to remove most but not all erroneous positions.

Dallas Animals Inventory Data pertains to live animals currently at the shelter.
Shelter personnel assist citizens by receiving surrendered and stray animals, facilitating adoptions, transferring animals to rescue groups, and providing care to the animals in the shelter every day. Shelter personnel document their work using Chameleon software, an animal shelter management program.
The Animals Inventory Dataset is updated every hour and provides an updated record of all animals currently at hand at the Shelter.

This statistic shows the share of United States citizens in 2016, by their opinion on the happiness of animals in zoos compared to the wild. During the survey, 26 percent of respondents stated that they think animals in zoos are somewhat less happy than animals in the wild.
Animal Center Outcomes from Oct, 1st 2013 to present. Outcomes represent the status of animals as they leave the Animal Center. All animals receive a unique Animal ID during intake. Annually over 90% of animals entering the center, are adopted, transferred to rescue or returned to their owners. The Outcomes data set reflects that Austin, TX. is the largest "No Kill" city in the country.
This data set replaces all previous Animal Center Outcomes data sets.

Abstract The aim of this work was to analyze records from two institutions that work with wild animals throughout 2018. Data were obtained from the animals received by the Wild Animal Screening Centre of Federal District (CETAS-DF), Brazil, referring to the type of admission and destination, species, as well as animals that required veterinary care and were referred to the Wild Animal Sector of the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Brasilia (HVet-UnB) with description of the main conditions and temporal analysis. Of the 7,603 animals that were admitted to CETAS-DF (6,646 birds, 461 mammals and 496 reptiles), 1,028 individuals (13.52%) required veterinary medical care and were referred to HVet-UnB. The class of animals that most needed assistance was birds (765), followed by mammals (225) and reptiles (37). Unlike other fauna diagnostic surveys from environmental agencies, this is the first study that correlates the numbers of animals received by a CETAS and that were referred for veterinary medical follow-up. The high number of wild animals that require referral to specialized institutions reinforces the need to establish agreements and structure for veterinary medical treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of these specimens as part of an action plan for the conservation of biodiversity in the country.

As of July 21, 2023, there were 76 insect species in the United States in danger of becoming extinct throughout all or a significant part of their natural range. Many animals native to the U.S. share this fate, but plants are the most affected with 766 species on the endangered list as of July 21, 2023.

Archaea are considered an essential group of gut microorganisms in both humans and animals. However, they have been neglected in previous studies, especially those involving non-ruminants. In this study, we re-analyzed published metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data sequenced from matched samples to explore the composition and the expression activity of gut archaea in ruminants (cattle and sheep) and monogastric animals (pig and chicken). Our results showed that the alpha and beta diversity of each host species, especially cattle and chickens, calculated from metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data were significantly different, suggesting that metatranscriptomic data better represent the functional status of archaea. We detected that the relative abundance of 17 (cattle), 7 (sheep), 20 (pig), and 2 (chicken) archaeal species were identified in the top 100 archaeal taxa when analyzing the metagenomic datasets, and these species were classified as the “active archaeal species” for each host species by comparison with corresponding metatranscriptomic data. For example, The expressive abundance in metatranscriptomic dataset of Methanosphaera cuniculi and Methanosphaera stadtmanae were 30- and 27-fold higher than that in metagenomic abundance, indicating their potentially important function in the pig gut. Here we aim to show the potential importance of archaea in the livestock digestive tract and encourage future research in this area, especially on the gut archaea of monogastric animals.
